Advice on rattling noise

Post by felixxo » Wed Aug 22, 2012 9:53 pm

Hi guys,
Need advice, when i startup my car, there's a rattling noise came from the engine bay. With AC on, worse. When i off my AC, there is no sound.
And also during pick up and low rpm, the sound will comes again.

Was told, maybe the timing belt (changed).problem still there.

Any advice guys? Appreciate it.

Could be timing/fan belt, water pump or engine mounting. Engine mounting very likely if mileage is > 60k.

If it is engine mountings you should have feel the vibrations & engine will shakes. an experienced mechanic should be able to rectify if it is the timming belt or valve clearence etc...

Thanks for the reply guys, appreciate it lots.
Went to the mechanic, was told, the sound came from my compressor.
Drove to the nearest aircon servicing shop, again wasntold compressor.
So decided to change to a new compressor, now i am $630 poorer :(

Its the compressor/alternator bearing or belting tighten not to torque specs. Dun need change whole set if urs still working.
