Erratic idling

Post by esi06 » Tue Sep 27, 2011 10:08 pm

Help Help.....

Been driving esi for many years. This is the first time I encountered erratic idling for my ride. This morning, the moment the engine is started, the engine has erratic idling between 1.5 - 2.2k rpm.

What is wrong now?

Does the erratic idling persist, or is it a one-time event?

Happened when the engine is cold.
For one instance, I started the car and rest it rest from 10 mins. The erratic idling eventually reduces and the idling is normal after 10 mins. Have been monitoring it, same event happen.

It could be:
EACV/IACV, try to clean it.
Low coolant.
Vacum leak.

Low coolant.
Vacum leak.

Cleaned the EACV/ IACV.
Same problem.

Finally replaced them and the problem is fixed.

Normal lah. Early in the morning (6.30am) when I start my CL7R, the car idles at about 1.8k rpm, and will slowly decrease. If I drive off, the idling RPM will just drop down to 800. For the rest of the day, the car seldom go back to the high 1.8k levels. I think it is just some feature that increases the idling rpm when the engine is very cold.
