Steering vibrating

Post by honda76 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 8:53 am

Hi, I just changed to OMP steering wheel (previously using stock one) and the car steering wheel is vibrating esp when travelling at gear 1 and 2. I notice OMP wheel is much lighter than stock one and not sure if it is the cause? or could be due to uneven tire? it is especially annoying when the tein HA I am using is already causing some bumpyy feeling.

do the bascic checks 1st
1.check yr tyre if it needs to be balanced or for any uneven wear
2.check yr Brake Disc rotor runout..make sure that they're not warped...heck yr ball joints and bushings to make sure none of them are slack or worn.
3.check yr ball joints and bushings to make sure none of them are slack or worn.(dont forget your strut top mounts..those cause wobbly steering as well)
4.lastly check your steering rack if its worn...

IMHO its better to troubleshoot from the cheapest to the most ex...who knows its the small small things tt cause the problem instead of the expensive stuff yea?
