Why I on aircon car become like that...???

With no aircon, the car very smooth, ever ready to pounce. But once the compressor is on, the car is like dragging half a tonne of boulders at the back.

Is this normal, or something wrong with battery or elsewhere? Or simply my car the horses too small...

Anyone can advise the ignorant here?

Thanks.

its because you aircon compressor sucks up a certain percentage of power, its gonnabevery obvious if on small cc engines

mine is 1493cc ek3, little bro of ek4 leh...perhaps thats true, compressor takes up a large percentage...or could it be belt loose?

Thanks guys.

you can check your belting for tightness, normally it should be able to depress 0.5-1cm , if more than that belt might be loose

It could also be due to air intake when the compressor kicks in. I guess if you add a small air intake thingy (not sure what it's called) to allow more air, it MAY help.

on light and on radio dun feel any effect, but the aircon is the killer, can step more gas lah but waste petrol.

so at the moment, i just bear with the weather lah...

by the way who had heard of mygreenoil kind of stuff?

Me thinking of stand alone air-con for my car, is there such thing??

Honda vtec engine are build and design with power band coming in between mid to hign rpm .when rpm below 3k with aircon this cause the engine to lose even more power this explain why you feel the lack in power . From what i know only buses are using separate engine to run the aircon

wow this thread unexpectedly got revived.....

I was thinking if I should just install a fan in the car will do...just like the good old days in the taxis...but very embarassing

Does it make any difference in power consumption if I on the fan but not the aircon?

Fan are drive by eletricity from your battery will no affect your power don't worry .Air con compressor are driven by the engine directly this explain why alot energy is lose .Don't forget engine need to run power steering pump and alternator also somemore in old car alot of sensor is not feeding the accurate infomation back to ecu this reduce engine efficient . :)

yup u are right. I just verified this using the vacuum meter. Engine at idle the meter shows about 22 unit. On the fan w/o aircon does not appear to affect the reading. On aircon the reading drop about 4 ticks.

Well, no need to buy fan liao, just use car fan w/o aircon. sometimes on aircon when cruising at higher speed, after awhile still can enjoy the cool air when aircon off and fan blowing...nice!

:P

too much on off on off of air con in long run will destory it too.
