Please help me out, thanks!

Intercooler - Used for both either AUTO or MANUAL cars. Only for FI. Purpose is to cool down the charged AIR from the turbo to the intake.limhengleong wrote:Hello! ATF cooler - Used ONLY for AUTO cars. Be it NA or FI. Purpose is to cool ur AutoTransmissionFluid.
Another one is Oil Cooler. - Used for Auto/Manual/Na/FI. Purpose is to cool down ur EO.
Hope this helps

Stock Honda Fit only have a radiator...limhengleong wrote:Thanks! I got a better understanding but I got lots of questions running in my head after hearing your explanation. 1 car got how many cooler? I driving Honda Fit auto then got intercooler, ATF intercooler and oil cooler inside ar?

There's always a better 2molo...........
fit is NA. So no intercooler. As for ATF cooler, also dun have stock. i dunno abt other brands. but for Honda, no ATF cooler as oem parts.limhengleong wrote:Thanks! Normaly Original NA car do not comes with oil cooler.limhengleong wrote:Hmm.. that means all stock cars only got radiator and no intercooler, ATF intercooler and oil cooler huh?
For Auto car, there is a build in cooler for the auto gear or CVT fluid. This build in cooler are within the radiator itself. Additional cooler for ATF is needed only if you do towing. For driver who like to ride hard on thier auto/cvt, it is better to install one. Which means more fluid needed than original volume.
Installing oil cooler does help to reduce oil temp. It will benefit more if it is used on the track.
Turbo/SC uses oil cooler mainly to cool the oil down faster becos of the charges running at quite high temp.
Intercooler only for Force induction car. This is due to the air running thru the charges which heat up quite high temp. U do not wun high temp air to be sucks into the manifold. Thus, the term intercooler. NA car do not use one. If install, your engine will choke.
Your ride is auto, I presume its a CVT, it comes with a radiator with built in CVT fluid cooler inside.... yes inside the radiator. Same goes to most of the auto car. The other cooling plate you will find is for the aircon and its installed right infront of the radiator.
Okay lets see the works.
ATF cooler.
- for towing
- if push hard on the auto (recommended if u do it alot)
- size of the cooler depends on the volume and cooling effects needed. (Towing a carvan need a BIG one for sure)
- usually runs at lower pressure
- comes in fin types which are more effective in cooling but less robust than tube type.
- For fin types, sizes usually increase the number of rows and/or width.
- For tube types, size usually increase the number of turns and/or length & diameter.
- PVC conecting hose is more than enug to withstand the pressure.
- easier way to install is to mount it infront of the aircon cooler.
Oil cooler.
- Same concept as ATF except more parts to fit into.
- Stainless steel breaded hose due to the high pressure
- Adaptor conecting the steel hose to the engine block and filter
- Size and shape of the cooler also similar to ATF except most of the market selling Fins type.
- Honda engine oil pressure runs quite high compare to others.
- Mounting can be subjective depending on the space constraint.
For any of the cooler installed, you will need additional fluid top-up whenever you service your car.
Can't think of anything else at the moment.... brain freezzzzz lioazzzzz. Please feel free to add or delete.....zzzzz Can't believe I wrote this early in the morning.....

Wah! Brother! You really explain details to me, thanks! By the way I'm driving a 1.3 auto Honda Fit then thinking of installing a ATF cooler, oil cooler, open pod air intake and a bigger exhaust but not thinking of adding turbo or supercharger at this moment. You think it's enough or actually don't have to add the oil cooler? My RPM most of the time is 3000 nia, only at some time go until 5 or 6. So what you recommend?
U r most welcome bro. The setup u mentioned sounds alrite to me. But oil cooler not really needed lah. save the $$$ as u donch rev so high most of the time. Even I do rev often to red line also donch need it. Only if go track, cos u will drag the rev longer than normal driving, then install a oil cooler.limhengleong wrote:Wah! Brother! Hahaha.... that whats happening now. I am expecting my 2nd baby and thinking of car change. Look at the amount of mod I had, wah lau aye.... donch noe how to sell manz.....Cougar_23 wrote:basically you're right on track for these setups as they will be a "good to have" for the car.
consequently, "nothing is enough" ... one keeps beefing up his/her ride without realising gonna sell car the next day
