Any workshop to recommend?

Changed brakepads 2 months ago and got this problem when about to stop.
The mechanic who changed the brakepads said that it's normal. Asked me to brake hard to get rid of the sound. He said the calipers is not biting enough if you press gently, hence the sound. I was like WTF! I m very gentle with brakes and it didn't use to have this problem until changing.

Cost me 100 bucks for the pads.

Could it be insufficient lubrication? Thanks for any ideas or pointers.

What brand of brake pads did you change to??

Original honda brake pads. Nothing fanciful. Unless that causes the problem? But it sounded like door hinge creaking. Any ideas or workshop that can check the problem?

I see.... I think it could be due to the edges of the new pads... get the workshop to chamfer the edge abit... that might solve the problem..

Usually it would mean it is time to clean the dust accumulated at the brakes. You can also apply copper grease at the pad the side where the pad touches the caliper and piston. Do not out the grease at the disc side unless u wan ur car to end up in the long kang

have mine applied & even got the pad edges trimmed, nothing has changed.

im on PMU (front) & Ferodo DS2500 (rear) but the sound only comes from the rear if i brake gently (no sound if hard braking)

performance pads will usually have such problems but try "running-in" your brakepads for at least 5-10 mins....before the next traffic stop, unwind your window, brake gently & listen if still got sound...

Think u need to break-in ur pad. I just broke-in my new set of brk pad and is noiseless now.

You just go to a road which has less / no traffic, accelerate to 90km/h and immediately brake hard (just before ABS kick-in) to 20km/h in a few seconds... You must not stop or let brake caliper prolong contact with brk pad like what u did at traffic junction waiting... Repeat it (7 - 9 times) until u can smell the pad burn smell so as to get rid of the new pad brake-in coating,,, And once u smell burn smell, immediately u drive to a car park to let it cool down. (try not to hold/depress brake too long) Once u done the new brake pad break in, you might hear sound og ur brake pad when you brake gently for the first 50km.... beyond that you will not hear anymore...

Got this problem as well, when the moment the car stops, it will have 2 creaking noise as in "DUH-DUH", in sync with the motion of the car coming to a complete stop. On top of it, if i depress hard when stationary, it will have a creaking noise as though the drum is flexing.

Change a pad, and solved the problem, however it came back again. This time its a low groaning noise when brakes is engaged and if i depress hard when stationary, it will also have a creaking noise as though the drum is flexed...

Anyone any idea what's wrong?

I notice this problem too. I changed my front brake pad and SSBH for all. Yes, the stopping power is great but I notice a few occasion when I brake soft down slop with hump the front brake created sound like can't grab properly.

So I try driving on flat road and apply brake hard and the same problem occur. I'm not confuse is the ABS or the brake EDB are not applying enough pressure to front brake.

Currently I'm using MERGENT brake pad. Please advise.

Sounds like a common problem. Noticed that on my friend's recently bought Avante too.

I haven't tried out breaking in the pads by driving fast and braking hard thou. May give it a try.

Anyway, is Huat Lee a good workshop for servicing? Thought might get them have a look during my 40k servicing soon.

I'm using the 4 pot brembos brakes....encountered this twice....When already fully stopped, i will hear this "ta ta ta ta" sound non-stop until i release my brakes slightly and let the car roll a bit forward. After this, no more noise during stops for the rest of the journey. This incident happen only twice, many days apart. Can anyone shed some light on this? Btw, the brakes are not new, used quite some time already.

Hi, i have the same problem when i change my brake pad(oem) recently. It has a low groaning noise when i step on the brake. I checked wif my workshop and they mention that new brake pad normally have this noise. Need time to run in.

Then after a week, theres a time when I had to brake hard suddenly along PIE and ever since, I heard sharp creaking noise when i step on the brake. A check with my workshop again and they says that I may need to "file" the brake disc as there are threads along the disc. So when the new brake pad applied itself on the disc, uneven contact surface will cause the sound. So i am left with either waiting the sound to goes off(usually 3-4mths later) or "file" the disc.


Any idea if this is true?

are u saying that your brakes squeak all the time, even when your pads have been warmed up?

Threads along the rotors? are they checked properly for warping?

Didn't think that new brake pads will make noise...
