test drive over-view

exterior and interior looks

i test drove the CP1 for a couple of times before deciding to sign for it. initial feel of the car is that it is spacious, good leg room from driver to front passenger to rear passengers. some people think the CP needed more refinement while others simply say its a killer (the good way)

overall, there's no complaints from me. that day, i test drove the silver CP.

engine:
starting the engine was sweet. the sound of it coming alive makes me want to quickly move off and see how much power it can pull off. the response from stop to move off is quite disappointing somewhat as one will notice slight lag in response. not what i have in mind. perhaps the heavy body and the 2.0L engine just don't quite make it?

however, all these impressions changed after the car went into cruise mode. it handled the roads well and the ride comfort maintained - superb. noise level from the engine did not transit into the cabin and this was first noticed. going at 90 -100 on a straight road, the CP pulls itself out of any situation handsomely.

brakes:
i remembered on one occasion, i have had to brake hard to avoid one motorist who suddenly cut into my lane without signaling his intention. the result did not disappoint and all passengers in the car didn't experience much disruptions. this is good for families that have small kids or seniors that join them in their daily ride. imagine not having your day foul by such an incident?

suspension:
the ride comfort for any H cars are said to be sporty in nature. this is no exception to the new accord. do not go with the expectation that it will be in any class like the camry - soft and comfort. it is not too far from it but definitely no softy. perhaps the CP2/3 will be better as a 17" is thrown in. no comments on that though. (any CP2/3 bros want to confirm this?)

overall:
the CP is a good buy if you are not considering likes from the toyota or nissan stable. ride comfort, cabin space and of course a new accord model looks very promising for the H camp. however, the price may be a little steep for those looking to upgrade given a camry and tenna cost few Ks lesser.

then again, i quote my SE, this is a different class...a higher class.

just wan to add some of my opinion for my CP2. driving for 2 months plus. noise level is definitely better.(my last ride is civic es5)

for the moving off, got the same feeling as you. got the lagging and changing gear feeling... unless you depress more on the pedal. then it will be more reponsive and smooth.(but i cant be going so fast at the moving off from stationary unless there is no car in front of me.)

engine is only more noisy when starting up the car. after warming up and moving off, will be less noise.

just went to kl last week. going at 160-200km/h, its really very stable. noise is minimal. the pick up from 100 plus onwards is quite responsive. and pretty fast in picking up from 140 to 190. but after that i think is the speed limit. went to ard 200 plus a bit only...
overall, its a luxury car, if you wan to win from moving off, its impossible. but when going at high speed, anytime can pick up.

that's a good speed for accord.

malaysian accordians (CP2) when top speed around 200 too and have had the same observations as you.

perhaps it has to do with the strut-bars installed in CP2?

cornering...did you try? (please remember that our CP is not 5 series or the E class)

dun think cornering is that stable. cause i went to genting, the cornering i dun dare to go too fast. feels like will fly out... unlike my previous ride manual es5. maybe manual cars are more better handling at cornering. hee...hee...

or maybe i dun dare to corner with this car... heavier easy to skid...

there's a bloke in the malaysian CP thread that says our CP suspension is crap while he was performing a "cornering" one of the malaysian roads. kinda beat up the CP and that's why i asked you on the cornering experience.

heavier cars easier to skid? hmmm...maybe it's because those cars are not evenly distributed in terms of weight/design?

i will plan for a road trip soon...just clocked my 1000...servicing lor!

i test drives 2 models (CP2 and CP3) and finally settle for CP3.. the steering feedback for CP2 felt better than CP3. But I am extremely unhappy with CP2 lack of torque at low speed. The V6 on CP3 felt very responsive and I am able convince myself to trade off the slight "numb" feeling on the CP3 steering for the pace and urgency I get.. Ultimately, I think these cars are value for money if you compared the build finish plus the amount of gadets one get compared to the german marques.

This is my opinion, similar to vti's comments, starting up the car is much louder as the rev goes up to approx. 1500 and then come down after warming up. After warm up, noise comes down. A bit surprised that a 2008 engine still bahave like dat, thot noise level should be much lower during start up.

The car is laggy below 2000 rpm when u move off, above that, more responsive. Am sure the CP3 is much more reponsive when moving off from stationary, as our new comer put it.

If u drive under S mode, it is very entertaining, but it takes up gasoline much more!

Ride during cruising is comfortable but gear change not that smooth, below my expectation.

However, in terms of handling, I would grade it higher as it response well.

Overall, it's still a good ride...cheers.

IMO, the sound u mentioned may be due to low rpm issue. This car is heavy, try to accelerate above 2000rpm n see if u hear this "tyre flap" sound when u move off. Chances are u wont.

Alternatively, put yr car to "S" mode and drive from stationary and see if u still hear this sound. Most likely u should not. If u do, may be time to get KM to check it out.

What I experience is even when u are cruising and the rpm dropped to below 2000 rpm, u will feel that the car is "sluggish" and under-powered (auto gear mode) and perhaps this is what u called "sound"?

Am thinking of adding a VAFC II as discussed in the other threads. Was told this may help.

already monitor for weeks.

think the prob is not due to engine vibrate,
its something a bit losse/or...???
whenever going low speed and over uneven roads, the sound will come out...
now feeling more and more peh chek..
will go kah motor for this prob. hopefully they can solve...
