Hmm......ABS material should not be a problem.
But i will need to come out CAD dwgs. Once that is out, there is no problem with fabrication. I have suppliers that can fabricate for me at a small cost or even FOC....

are you sure? it's not exactly fabrication.. you gotta custom an injection molding.. i'm in production procurement too.. i've inquired about it.. let's see your CAD drawings..

well let me know if you can do it below 400

Pete

I was thinking if it can be done without resorting to injection moulding.....
See if can find some plastic-like & soft materials to do fabrication.

No CAD dwgs now lah, Its just concept now.

Hmm....we are in the same line.
Exchange namecards next time!

Hey Kennie, ever thought of designing your own front lip? We can both sit down and come out with various design.

Speaking 'bout that, you wanna go JB to look for front lip for our babies?

custom front lip you can ask eddie's father to do it FRP for you.. but it's not cheap.. are you prepared to spend the money? if i were you i'd shelve all these cosmetic ideas and go for a good set of coilovers 8)

kennie i still think you'll need to mold it.. we're talking about high-end thermoplastics here.. we run massive supply chain that goes in the billions of dollars.. even if i get one of them to custom me a mold disguised as an (engineering sample) at 70% discount i'm looking at 500+ without material cost :( trust me i've gone thru this idea many many times

the only way custom design and fabrication is even worth the effort is if: (1) you can exceed the quality/standards of what's available off the shelves.. or (2) if it saves a significant amount of money.. when something falls out of these criterion, then it falls into the category of madness

but don't let me discourage you from trying man :)

Hi Pete,

I understand where you are coming from.
Looks like I am in the process of your previous thoughts.

Most likely on-hold this idea till i can find a material suitable for normal production fabrication & not thru molding.

Errr.....why would you wanna do that? I used to run my two front indicators as parking lights (cos I have HID I don't have the small bulb for parking light in the main housing), just need to wire up the lines over and fit an appropriate bulb. It looks kinda nice but you'll have to match the colour of the bulb to the colour of the bulb for the main headlights. Then I realised I better keep my outlook more stock (as in parts that should be functioning, leave it functioning) and lose my parking lights than have something that looks fancy but would probably get my into some trouble ha ha.....

But no indicators up front lah.....if you want to have indicator on just wire it up and use indicator colour bulbs loh, BUT.....orange bulbs look shite IMHO macham like some wrong Pontong Sala or Gila from across the causeway.....

Pete, welcome to our nitty gritty department of Hardware Development/Testing/Manufacturing/Procurement. What you mentioned maybe the in thing for Rapid Prototyping for Polyurethane or soft moulded materials. The RTV moulds are created from a master mould using SLA (Stereolithgraphy) which we inject the resin into the RTV moulds. But these moulds are only good for a couple tens of shots so are for low quantity production use (Usually early development or prototyping stage). We call the parts SLA parts in our dear organisation. And you're right, it is damn expensive but you save on the tooling costs.

Hey Jye, I've got a buddy whose into rapid prototyping. Got the machines for it. Damned! You're right about the moulds and the materials used. Superbly expensive!

Ha ha indicator lights that stay on, Potong Gila all the way man.....modify the indicator section to normal bulb projection looks okay though, been there done that so I can attest to that. And to it's credit it doesn't look out of place too (indicators that stay on will though) until you park it side by side with a "normal" EK that is ha ha ha.... Like I mentioned gotta match the colour temp of the bulbs you're gonna use, with your HID colour temp. Otherwise the lights would look abit out of place....

Hmmm the Fast and Furious effect is better achieved through underbody neon lights or strobes or pimpMYride smoke machines under the car etc etc.....or course you must have the requisite big fuzzy dice (lighted or not) dangling from your rear view mirror lah.....wooooooooo......

Ha ha you can blag undercarriage lights all you want bros (wink wink) but I have a soft spot for these now......wahahahaha.......boh pian lah nothing else to do, itchy backside ha ha ha....of course that doesn't mean I'll ease up on blagging on WRONG cars, yup even those with undercarriage lights....hur hur hur......PIMP IT!!!
