Towing from the rear?

Post by tyteo » Tue Feb 15, 2011 2:04 pm

Hihi everybody. My first posting on shc forum.. happy to join the community. :)

Would like some technical advice.. recently I had an accident where I was hit from the back. Tow truck was needed as the boot section had collapsed in. They had to lift the rear wheels off the ground for towing with the front wheels on the ground. I had tried asking the tower if this is SOP for this kind of towing but he drove off without any explanation! :x

Would appreciate any advice to the following:
1. The car engine was started and running with gear shifted to N, but handbrakes were ON. Since Honda (FD1) is front-drive, would this method of towing damage the engine, gearbox or transmission?

2. How does one know if any of the components are damaged? Any symptoms?

Thanks in advance for the help. 8)

eg. civic r front-wheel driven

if the front was damaged...they would definitely towed frm the front w/o the handbrakes pulled up

if the rear was damaged...they would towed frm the rear w/ handbrakes pulled up so tat they won't move ard n shift the gear to neutral...dun have the need 2 start the engine

i won't say if it's correct

if no harm was done to the front driveline n impact was at the front...they can still tow from the front...same goes 4 the rear

unless the driveline damaged then they'll tow frm the other end

not frm any towing company...juz some 1 working in car line
