Revving till it hits rev-cut

Post by melvinR » Thu May 12, 2011 9:56 pm

Hi guys, anyone ever experience when you rev, it hits the rev cut (eg rpm 8k) and yet hold on to it for about 2 seconds before changing gear ? does it do any harm ? used to driving manual and recently just switched over, revved till 8k+ but forgot to change gear..

then after that change gear and continue driving.. for a moment all revs lost. step on accelerator but no acceleration and rpm doesn't move. change gear (shift up and down to try) but no enginge brake.. response came back about less then 10 seconds later.

any idea what happened ?

Rev Cut

Post by Iceman27 » Mon May 16, 2011 4:41 pm

Rev cut activates when the engine tries to accelerate past the pre-set max RPM.. the ecu will cut the revs till it falls below the pre-set before allowing the throttle back on... it's instantaneous activity by the ecu.

Hope u can understand my poor description... :) Cheers!
