Engine mounting crack, spark plug ignition coil s/c

Post by poseidonlee » Mon May 10, 2010 1:38 pm

Sent my jun 06 city for servicing at comfortdelgro, tot their package not bad, try see good or not... the adviser just called me ...

1) engine mounting crack $450
- I had lots of judder when moving off... and idling vibration seems high, hope this is the cause.

2) one of my eight sparkplug ignition coil short circuited, he claim got dunno what white residue around the plug, it's symptom of s/c. $211 for 1 ... but he say soon the rest will follow!

3) rear drum brake oil leaking ... $200++

I'm only on 68k mileage, am I unlucky or this is the standard of Honda city?? Sigh ... :?

Get a second opinion elsewhere and if possible get the parts from Honda stockists, might be much cheaper.

aiya, dunno what to say, I think it's just me, so unlucky. End up they replaced all 3 mountings, parts about 260++. Labour ard $200+ including replaing my drum brake pump.

Then up till now, my whole car like always having flu, nowadays stopping or moving off the juddering and shivering so bad, of course this is when it's engaged in the D gear. If at P, then the car is now more quiet and the idling vibration is very soft, probably due to the new mounting?

Another thing I notice, dunno why after the servicing I seems to find the whole exhaust pipe under my car seems like dropping lower, when I walk towards my car nowadays, I ca see from far this cylinder/pipe(i think it's the exhaust) along the side of the body ... did not seems to notice this. Maybe any 06 users can help me check yours. I am also on the lookout for other 06 users ... so dun if surprise if I'm peeping under your cars... haha. :)

ok, just updating for the sake of others having juddering issues ...

1) it's nonsense that the engine mounting is crack or what when u have problem of juddering for the first 1 or 2 secs you step the accelerator moving off from stationary ... there have been many theories, but my own experience, all 3 times I have it solved after replacing CVTF. my last round of all the engine mounting replacement etc does not work. 5mths later I cannot tahan anymore, replace my CVTF, this time add in the oil extreme concentrate additive, the problem is gone immediately, hopefully it last longer this time.

Guy at the WS I went for servicing yesterday again told me it's engine mounting when I told him this problem ..NB ... pls, I just replace it less than 6 months back, kena smoke by comfortdel guy to replacing all 3 when only one is "crack". I told him just replace my CVTF ... issue solve. Summarising all read in the net, it seems once the car hit 50k, CVTF have to be replaced once every 10 - 15k ... a proof of the sensitive CVT drive...

Anyway, glad it's solve and hope it can last like 20k with the additive.

Happy driving and happy raining hazefree weekend!

Yes I agreed. Some workshop (including the KM one) is full of funny theory and try to ask you to replace here and there. This is especially true when car is out of warranty.

By the way, what is CVTF ?

Honda original ATF fluid for the CVT-spec gearbox. For conventional automatic gearbox the Honda branded ATF is ATF-Z1. Both OEM'ed by Idemitsu lubricant company.

Don't anyhow use wrong fluid in CVT gearbox, asking for trouble! CVT gearbox always use back the CVTF, don't geh kiang try out some fancy funny new ATF fluid later gearbox chui then repair bill lagi more funny!

Oh yes, CVT required very specific fluid.

Hi cscs3>
Most agent/major workshops practice full change out of any suspect problem. Cos of their warranty after services, they will avoid all complaints/ services done by them. As a result, the agent/workshop change every part which link to the suspect problem. After all, customer paid for the parts. Unless you are knowledgeable to instruct them to change only the specific part.
