Can Buy?

Post by bengester » Fri Apr 03, 2009 2:04 pm

Hi guys, i'm a newbie, wanting to get the LX city tomorrow. But still thinking against others as
1) Price a bit high
2) i test drived 2 days back, when i step on it, the air intake from the engine seems a bit loud.
3)i was told OMV 19k only. its it true?

So, with an overall expert view of those owners here, is the car worth it?
Since its going to my first car, tend to be a bit scare scare.
thanks in advance

most of them are turned off by the price... but grin their teeth and get the ride..

I suggest u test drive as many as possible on at A before decide.. buying car is not like buying clothes..change anytime u want!!

My purpose is i wan to get a honda, need a booth, and shall be cat A. I had been thinking for weeks of getting FD4 or City, and end up getting the City...

The sad thing is after-market 'legalise' parts are virtually none.... console myself... save $$$

overall, its a ok car.

i have driven a few cars before. mostly 2nd hand. but this is my 1st 1st hand car. i feel its overall a 7.5/10 car

the road and engine noise is rather high. after the 1k servicing should tone down. (even i soundproof my 4wheel archs and boot, i also can feel the diff)

steering rather light but its the same for all 1.6na cars. after you change to 16-inch rims, feels much more heavier.

Thanks for the feedback.Ya!I m 1.82m(85kg) & my son who always seat behind is 1.83m so i think this car is out for me.
Nowadays alot of cars back passenger headroom is not so ideal.Tested avante, altis, forte & lancer EX.I cant even sit upright as a back passenger. My head touch the ceiling so i can image how my son going to seat comfortably behind, haha!

Just my personal preference and opinion as a layman and a first time owner :)

i'm pretty ok with mine. mileage about slighly above 2k, on 205/50R16 falken 522 tyres. it felt better than the stock 175 for non-LX version. Being heavy footed, i'm getting abt 11+-12km/L for the AT.

Power: When it's loaded with 2 persons, still quite ok. when i have 4-5 people in the car, usually remain 2-2.5k rpm. the dropping gear happens quite often. can't help to compare coz i was usually driving a family cvt Latio. despite the roaring noise at gear change, i still feel that it's a powerful car :)

Steering: Initially felt light, but now feels stiffer, which suits me better.

Brakes: but i was thinking, i would prefer a slightly more responsive brakes, esp for the first 1/4 of the peddle. partly coz i'm on about 75-80% congested urban drive, so i'd need to use more brakes to 'inch' forward.

Soundproofing: surely has much room for improvement.

Cabin: I'm about 1.75m tall, with long legs. So i will push the driver seat back a little. but still enough leg room for passengers who are about 1.7m tall. the glove compartment is a little small though. only can put a couple of stacks of coupons and a torchlight. cup holders are a plenty, which comes handy. thinking of getting a container to put inside

Accessories: i'd be even happier if the non-LX version will be given more features, looking at the price. i paid about 55k ($1k COE) for my AT non-LX. E.g. powered foldable wing mirrors, foldable backseats or back passenger armrest. Multi-speed windscreen wiper on intermittent mode as most of the time when it rained in the past month after my collection, the higher 2 speeds of the wipers are either too fast or too slow. as far as i'm concerned, i'm fine with not having fog lights.

I'm greedy....
