does aftermarkets improve or degrade FC?

after having a look see hear and kopi'ing around, below are the common things i hear about CAI.

The positive points makes more sense to me personally. It's just more scientifically logical.

opposing school of thoughts:
1) Cold air intake degrades engine performance in the 2k-3k rpm range as the engine runs more efficiently in this range when air drawn in is hotter.
2) The 2k-3k rpm range suffers, but the high rpm range performance improve.
3) Cold air = denser air = more fuel needed = degrade FC

positive school of thoughts:
1) No engine has ever defied this rule: engine performance will be optimal with cool air. (of course not ridiculously cold, generally 15-25C will be fine). I really haven't heard of any engine that works better with hot air.
2) Aftermarket CAIs generally improve airflow by widening the air intake, or by placement of open pod air filters exposed to ram air.
3) Aftermarket airfilters allows higher permissibility of air, also filters out particles better than stock filter. Extends engine life.
4) Better airflow improves combustions.
5) Better engine performance = right foot step less (usually the reverse happens because feel more shiok, but let's not factor that in).
6) Stock air intake is designed for noise reduction, which is why it is contained in the engine compartment. This results air that is heated up by the engine bay that's being drawn in. This is a delibrate performance compromise by car manufacturers for noise reduction, a common selling point in cars.
