Jazz 1.4 i-DSI MANUAL Cumulative Average Fuel Consumption

Post by Peregrine » Sun Apr 01, 2007 5:39 pm

Calling all Jazz 1.4 litre i-DSI MANUAL owners/drivers!!

Please poll your honest calculated figure (preferably from at least 5 successive refills) ........ and not highest km/l achieved at a particular refill nor any FC reading from any computerised display on dashboard.

For those not familiar, caFC is calculated from total km travelled by total volume of petrol from those refills. For accuracy, the point to start refill (say, 1/4 tank) and stop (say, auto-stop of nozzle) for the first and last refills of the series should be the same. Best to use odometer readings rather than tripmeter as the latter can be accidentally reset.

Incidentally if there are long trips especially along NS Highway, those mileage and refills should be excluded.

For those with significant mods like changes in tyre/rim size, engine mods, engine oil and heavy body kits, etc, please also post in the thread, your caFC and short description of the mods.

Hope you would contribute to make the number of polls high and that the result will be useful to all, including prospective buyers. :)

******************************

Here is an example of caFC monitoring adapted from actual figures for a different model of car. The first refill was to top-up tank to full.

Date.../odo.../distance/.litre./.km/l
18 Mar/10069/........../56.28/........
29 Mar/10666/597……./51.04/11.69
9 Apr../11293/627……./52.33/11.99
26 Apr/11891/598……./51.19/11.68
11 May/.…?.../….?....../51.85}avg for these two
21 May/13004/1113…./53.47}refills = 10.57

The cumulative average fuel consumption for these five refills = (597+627+598+1113) divided by (51.04+52.33+51.19+51.85+53.47) = 11.29km/l.

As long as you keep the receipt which records the number of litres each time you pump, even if you miss writing down the odometer reading on one occasion, you can still calculate FC and the cumulative average figure for the series. The total distance travelled for the 11 & 21 May refills equal 13004 - 11891 = 1113 km using 51.85 + 53.47 litres. So the km/l = 10.57 for these two refills.

What is important is to use odometer reading (which cannot be reset) and not depend on tripmeter which may be accidentally reset which will make monitoring inaccurate.
