Ok I am no expert on all Hondas but this is as accurate as I can provide you guys on the exact information from the factory. (I was an apprentice there for two years)

All are for JDM specs unless stated. Cars with JHM in front of the actual code specifies export (UK) cars. Any thing else like E-EG is JDM spec

Me to. I also wanna know when will the vtec open as I do understand that at diff speed and rpm that you are travelling on, you can actually delay or early open your vtec. Can advise? :)

Old School Concerto 1.6 EX-i

Post by Jeremy » Fri Nov 04, 2005 2:47 pm

Guys there's one more engine u guys left out. Its the 1.6l 16 valves 131ps Sohc D16a7 for the concertos here in singapore. There are 2 variants, the 98ps carburrettor, and the fuel injected one as i mentioned above. In fact, its the same engine block as the esi's D16z, sans the vtec. Cheers guys.

You are using too wide a term which is better.

In terms of engine, I will say the ESi engine seem to be more powerful than the ek3 and the ES5.

Power-to-weight ratio ESi will win Ek3 which in turns win ES5

The ES5 is detune to produce more torque rather than hp. I think ESi and Ek3 both produce around 130hp

Both are all the same d16 engines, each one improving it design for different purpose. There also also D5 engines for the Esi But both are quiet similarly matched. 100C +/- will not make much of a significant difference
