ATF oil for ES

Post by edt@es » Sun Nov 06, 2011 11:40 am

hi all seniors,

Newbie here, just bought a 2005 ES few days ago. As this is a used car and I dun have the past service records, im planning to take my car to my usual garage for servicing and checking (mileage 120k).

Can some seniors advise me on the following;

1)What is the grade/brand for the transmission oil use for for our Civic ES5? I have read the manual and it say either original Honda ATF-Z1 or Dexron 3. Where can I buy it from?

2) What other major things need to buy/check for servicing @ 120k mileage?

3) Any idea where can I buy door visor and rear lip spoiler for my car?

Thanks in advance!

Official Supplier of Supersprint Exhaust that is the ONLY legal aftermarket louder and nice looking pipe is Jeep Chee. Unfotunately, a bro went there March 2011 to discover that they NO LONGER BRING IT IN on account that the ES is no longer the current model, and those who wanted the legal pipe already bot it... never account the used car market people may want to buy the ONLY legal pipe for the ES... anyways - they should still do official transfer so look out for it in the Want To Sell (WTS) folder as other ES owners dekit. Just make sure they did not operate the SS pipe and have the cert when you buy over. If need to swop - do consider it only after LTA chop on the paper the SS pipe is legal... else you stuck with no original pipe when inspection comes... can be very difficult.

Other people who can service EXHAUST include Fong Kim and Mann's Exhaust (sort of a Shaolin-Wu Dang relationship haha)

FK is at Ubi Road 1,

Mann Exhaust is at 11 Sin Ming Industrial Estate Sector B, #01-77, Singapore 575655.

Front Lower Ball Joint Replacement
contributed by bro Hysteria4u

Follow this link to see the part, and price in USD. can order also.

Has anyone replaced the lower ball joint (on the front knuckle) with this part? I understand that if using original part, need to replace the entire knuckle. I came across this after-market part from Moog, Part No: K90332. Installed, and found to be of good quality and more affordable replacement.

If you are referring to my PM to you, please read the last few paragraphs.

for your benefit

ATF use ORIGINAL HONDA ATF in the RED AND WHITE BOTTLE

There is no 'grade' one type only from HONDA. Buy from Tanly or Thian Seng at Waterloo Centre. They are stockists, not a showroom like autobac

proces quoted yet to add tax. Be nice to the counter people, they will be quite helpful.

If you chose to use other brands, try KIC ATF - most workshops who offer KIC will know what is the type for your car... I dun drive auto ES so I do not know exactly what grade... but those mechanics/workshops who sell KIC, they will know.

what other brand you want? list so i can either tell you where or tell you i dunno and others can jump in to help fill in the blanks

come for meetup best... many people, many different experience, many lobang... ask here, likely only a few will offer you info.

The official Denso Plug for ES5 is the Denso IK16L.

However, IK20L is a cooler plug and preferred by those going long distance, or high rev regularly...

If you just go for market trips, send kids to school etc. short trips only, IK16L would be better.

actually, both not much difference until you redline the engine umpteen times in a few hours (like on track)...

price is also the same? you find out...

For a cheaper option you can also go for the NGK Irriway 7 or 9 plug... they have the proper equivilant for your ES if they carry the plug...

Thanks for the info, I suppose NGK Irriway 7 or 9 plug work the same way like Denso ( irriway 7 compare to IK16L / irriway 9 compare to IK20L).

Do you know the price for NGK and where can I buy it?

Thanks.

Follow this link to see the part, and price in USD. can order also.

Has anyone replaced the lower ball joint (on the front knuckle) with this part? I understand that if using original part, need to replace the entire knuckle. I came across this after-market part from Moog, Part No: K90332. Installed, and found to be of good quality and more affordable replacement.

Hi all....

My ES1 is reaching it's 160k servicing point.

Was reading thru the treads here, and noticed that a list of items required for the 160k servicing is listed, such as timing belt, pumps etc.

If I go to workshop such as Autosaver, or even KM, does the package price includes these items? I do not have a regular workshop, and lazy to get these items individually, so convenient is more impt to me.

thanks in advance!

Happy New Year
