Stream 2l Fuel Consumption

Post by zakuii » Sun Jun 06, 2004 3:56 pm

I just top-up my 1st tank. Surprisingly, I managed to get 12.1km/l! :o

~80% of the time is spent on expressway. Load is usually 1 to 3 adults. RPM <3K, mainly cruising around 2000 rpm. The car is totally stock.

Will continue to monitor!

I'm getting poorer FC in my 3rd tank. Only got 9.5km/l using Shell 95. Now switch to Shell 92 and continue to monitor.

This saturday will be going for the 1st 1000km servicing. I realised that KM does not provide free labour like BM or TCM.

Can anyone recommend what fully syn oil and grade to use? Some said SAE30W is better than SAE40W and some said SAE30W is too thin for our weather. Is Honda VTEC engine oil better than Shell or Mobil or Castrol? How about Redline or Mugen and where to buy them?

I'm pumping Esso Mobil 5000.

You're right KM does not provide free labour or free servicing. I'd suggest you bring your own engine oil. if not, they will use Shell Helix Ultra 5W40.

I have been using Esso Ultron 5W40 for a few servicing already and it is giving me good mileage and engine protection (no leakage). I will use it for 1K servicing. I am thinking to trying Castrol SLX 0W30 for 10K servicing though.

1st top-up 12.1km/l (20% City 80% Expressway)
2nd top-up 10.7km/l (50% C 50% E)

So far FC is better than anticipated. :)

zakuii,

didn't find any problem or unusual noise from the engine.

after half tank of 92 I found that the FC went down from 9.8km/l to 9.3km/l so I changed back to 95.

No meter. Pump full tank. Reset trip meter. Travel till low petrol indicator lights up. Go pump to full tank again. Divide the distance travelled by the amount of petrol pumped. Repeat for a few times and you'll know what is the avg. FC.
