We saw it when the car is raised. It was the VTEC Solenoid Valve is leaking (it seems). So Mechanic suggested to change it and monitor. But no stock. Now only can change gasket and monitor. Also there is a switch beneath the Valve. It could possible leak too.

Hi Freddie Lim,

Long time no see you in this thread. Still driving a Honda?

Getting one for nostalgia reason and memories? Accord-CM diecast model is hard to find now.

China used to make them:

And Ebbro used to have the Inspire, available in 6 colours.

I bought 1 of the Ebbro Inspire. Back then it's widely available in the "Nikko Toy" shop, believe due to online business competition it's outlets closed 1 by 1.

You may find some Ebbro Inspire on e-bay still:

Those China makers only sell new models now:

Hi everyone,

It's amazing to see this Mega thread lasted for so long and still alive. It's been a long, long time that since I last login. Nonetheless, I managed to find this thread again.

All the old timers has moved on to their new ride. It is my time now, my CM4 developed engine problem. So, scrapped it 3 months short of 10 years....

I'm pretty good experience with it, along the journey with some problems. With this last problem, it's not worth fixing.... So.that's it.

Accord-CR minor change

Post by junning » Wed Mar 23, 2016 11:17 pm

Hi Swayer777,

Nice to see you back.

Yah... most Accord-CM on the road are reaching end of model life. Didn't expect it will have engine problem.
Getting the facelift Accord-CR? or switching to another model or brand?

Hi Junning,

Great to see you still very active here. With my CM4 scrap, I was contemplating on Subaru Legacy or Forester at first. But, eventually, I got the CR2, the YOM2014 2.4 model. I had a choice of the facelift CR1 or the old stock CR2. I go for the CR2 as it has more discount(difference of just 2K more than the CR1 facelift). I also could not decide on the CR1 as my SE from KM does not have physical car on display, brochure or even picture of the looks and the improvement of the facelift model. Only able to tell me the new LED headlight. So, I ended up with the CR2.... There aren't many on the road. Any feedback on it?

Honda Accord-CR

Post by junning » Sat Mar 26, 2016 11:14 pm

Hi Swayer777,

Honda needs loyalist like you!

I got a chance to drive a Accord-CR2 in Bangkok some time back, mileage was 50K+.
It reminds me of the notorious problem with the CM - steering wheel vibration!
However the road handling is one of the better ones compared to other makes in the same segment.

Honda Accord CR

Post by Swayer777 » Sun Mar 27, 2016 12:16 am

Hi Junning,

Well, I actually had idea of getting a used Mercedes E Class. But, besides high depreciation and high maintenance cost, and comparing the price of an old E Class which is not far off from a new Jap car. That start me looking for my next ride. I almost commit myself into a Legacy end of last year. I hold back with some consideration of possible COE drop since I still have some time till May this year(CM4 COE end of life). So, since the CM4 is dying on me, thus the need to change.

I guess I'm a Honda man. I have owned 4 Honda cars(old and new) before. This is my 5th and 3rd Accord. In the past, I used to look at Toyota too(Camry), but somehow don't like the design(exterior and interior) and most importantly the Sales person who are mostly very arrogant bunch of people. I had 2 bad experience/encounter which me away from them. I have also test driven Nissan Teana 2.5, don't quite like it either. I did not look into Mazda 6.

I have to be contended with CR2 and hope will not develop the vibration you mentioned.

What do you think of the facelift CR? Is it better than the pre-facelift model?

Hi Swayer777,

For the facelifted Accord-CR, it's mechanically unchanged. There are several nice features : Engine Remote Start, Apple Carplay, Honda Sensing
Check the links below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BKBZKdgZps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GlIilbCKGc

Believed the next Accord FMC will adopt the Civic 1.5L Turbo which churns out the same power as 2.4L NA.
That will be some thing nice and more economical in the future.

Hi Junning,

Thanks for the link. Yes, the new accord's features are nice. Remote start is good, Apple carplay will not be useful for me as I'm an Android user, Honda sensing may be good and bad for local use in my opinion. In any case, I wonder what feature will be included for KM's model. For the exterior, I like the front LED DRL and the rear LED brake light.

It seems like the future is going that trend of have a lower engine capacity direct injection turbo charged engine. So, Gen 10 Accord with 1.5L DIT and 2.0L DIT? Nice! But, I will be enjoying my CR2 for the time being for the next 5 years...

It started after I came back from China 2 weeks back, when I noticed this horde of ants merry-making on my roof and windscreen. Thinking nothing of it then, I activated my windscreen washer and wiper to swipe them off.

Then I noticed them crawling on my front and rear seats, and sun-tanning on my dashboard. 1 week back I noticed they were tunneling in and out of a small orifice that runs across the A-pillars, and it appeared they were trying to do some major renovation to their new abode, with each in-going ant carrying a white fluff, and out-going ant empty-mandibled. Tried flooding the tunnel with insecticide, but they turned out to be more resilient than expected. Tried parking full day under the sun, but these little critters must have also built a summer resort located somewhere at the lower part of the car to cool off till the sun sets every evening.

So in desperation I resorted to ant poison. Haha, I thought gleefully, this time I'll wipe out their whole colony, or so the $2 poison satchet claimed. But it must have been ant ecstasy, because they appear in even greater numbers merry-making on the rooftop in the evening.

Any pest control expert here who can help?

U might have to trail some of the ants, roughly see where they head to and open up the entire section to check. A nest could be in there alrd.

Seriously, unless u find their breeding ground, they will keep surfacing for sun tans.

Hey herk,
Thanks for the idea,
I was in the same problem, but after reading your idea I searched for them and found a nest inside the back seat.
Now its cleaned and there is no sign of white ants. Thanks again
