Hi all, I have a end 2008 Fit GE6 1.3 CVT. i am the 3rd owner. mileage if 108k, if its legit - unverified.
just bought recently and experienced a fault code P0420 - read it as catalyst bank1 fault.
does anyone know what it means? the dealer i bought from claimed its the hurricane air filter and replaced a new stock one for me. the error occured after abt 10 days.
i read on the internet that its the air flow sensor in the cat or worst its the cat faulty and needs a replacement.
hope to find a cheap and good fix.
thanks!
P0420 error
Re: P0420 error
you may want to try changing oxygen sensor.

Re: P0420 error
Thanks for your input.
How much would replacement cost?
Can existing one be cleaned to save on replacement cost?

Re: P0420 error
I have no idea on the cost of sensor. I think should be around 300 dollars or may be less with labour. It is almost like replacing spark plug may require a special tool and the location of the sensor could be tricky. You can ask mechanic to use scan tool to check first. Worst case is the cat converter. I have experience with my accord after a car accident, the error pop up. Change sensor then error came back a month later. Some said need to use original part. At the end left it and drove until car scraped. No issue to pass inspection for my case.

Re: P0420 error
Thanks again.
After the check light came on, the car feels rough and jerky at low speeds. I hope everything is ok.
When n no error, very smooth, hope is just the car being sensitive to existing fault code that is picked up.
I will try get the dealer to fix the prob for me. hopefully.
This car is good for coe renewal. wasted to scrap.
