Easy.

Check the manufacturing date on the tire. E.g. 31/12 means the 31st week of year 2012 or 4/13 means 4th week (or end Jan) of year 2013..

Check all 4 tires.

Tks for the reply bro. But that just shows the date of manufacture of the tyre. It doesn't say if the tyre is used or new. U know what I mean? Like it could show 2/12 on the tyre and the shopkeeper could say although it was manufactured last year, he just hasn't been able to sell it yet - but that doesn't mean it's a used tyre. How old a manufacture date would you accept when buying new tyres?

Dont buy manufacture date more than 2years. Best is within a year as rubbers have shelf life.
If they are used then the thread will be worn. and the colour, markers etc most likely have disappeared.

During the manufacturing process..molten rubber is injected into the mould to form the tyres. Look out for the fine hair of rubber.

Also, there are coloured lines (shall not tell you what its for) on the tyres. If the tyres are used, likely that the colour lines will be gone.

3rd..the sticker on the tyre with all the details..brand...size...pattern...load speed index...safety warning etc etc. ensure its there.
