Water splashing onto front bonnet

Post by BB88WA » Mon Dec 03, 2012 5:17 pm

Like to check if any bros or sis here have this same issue..

Lately when it rained heavily, there is definitely some water ponding on lane 1 of ECP. When friving over the puddles, I noticed that the water actually splashes upwards onto my windscreen blinding me from whats ahead of me..

Tyres are 215/55/16 toyos..

Anyone know why this happens and what I should do possibly to fix this?

Thanks![/u]

Hi bro,

How fast were you going? Maybe its the driver of the opp lane causing it. I've seen it a few times and experienced it too. Both drivers going through a puddle at the same time thus splashing each other.

My advise slow down and drive safe. :D

Cheers!

hmm never encountered this before... i have had water splashed onto my windscreen from the side and even from the opposite traffic! but if im driving into a puddle, don't see how the water will splash onto the windscreen - the physics dont match up.

but as everyrockkills said, drive slow and safe!

and when i see heavy downpour and lotsa ponding, i usually put on my warning signal lights as well and slow down.

Thanks for the replies..

I wasn't driving fast at all.. Maybe 40-60km at that point..

It's totally not logical why it splashes up and certainly physics didn't match as u mentioned too.. And it's definitely not from the other side...

That's why I am trying to understand why it happens..

I even attempted those small puddle on the side of the roads when the rain stopped. It still splashes upwards over my sider fender..

Totally against physics...

Hi bro,

Maybe mythbusters can help you answer your question  kidding!

If you have a vehicle recorder upload a vid here for us to see?

And bro Kev, best not to on your hazard lights in heavy downpour. It confuses the driver behind you. Just switch on yr headlights, maintain speed or slow down if necessary.

Cheers!

I have experienced it also myself. Just never paid much attention to it. I'm not an expert but my guess is that it could be from the tires spraying the water forwards as the car drives into the spray. Especially for a high ride like ours, the water has lots of room to spray forwards as the tire hits.

Found a solution to this..

Put graco or rainx on ur windscreen to improve the visibility when water splashes up your windscreen....

Its works for me..

Drive safe!
