It's Illegal...

So far i have yet to hear my frds caught for tinting taillights? I think probably they close one eye but they are less tolerant for tinted windows and car plate, often heard ppl kena.

Any bro care to share their stories??? What abt exos?

f you tinted it in any color other than red, you have just violated that portion of the vehicle code. Red means red. It doesn't mean dark brown, or black with a hint of red. So unless you are planning to spray it with red stain glass paint or red tint, it will be illegal. Also, tinting taillights affects the viewing distance of the brake lights. So you might run into troubles there.

To sum it up... Is it illegal? Yes. Will you get pulled over by police because of your tinted taillight? Maybe, it is at the discretion of the police officer at that moment.

Sad to say, They normally close one eye to rich ppl and expensive cars..

illegal. IMO they dont really pay much attention to it. i had mine for near 3 years still not yet come across any problem. inspection will be a problem though.

Inspection sure fail, on the rd dun be stop by lta but base on luck.

Got pulled over by LTA few weeks back. Pointed out my tail lamp tinted and ask me remove. Did not fault me on that. But he caught me for my tinted glass instead.

its illegal... my fren kena $70 fine. his quite dark. if you tint less than 30% they usually close 1 eye.

Mine tinted only partly. I left the red part as it is. Only tint the white portion.
So far caught by LTA couple times for other stuff like number plate. But no questions on the tinted tail light so far.
