Side mirror motor for CL7

Post by timbuktoo » Sun Nov 06, 2011 3:48 pm

Hello all,

Anyone knows where I can repair my side mirror motor? I have the auto folding module for my car. And recently, the left side mirror doesn't close.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you! (:

Few months ago I also got the same problem. The side mirror stuck especially under the hot sun.

Put some lubricant and try. Works for me.

if going to park under the hot sun then press to close your side mirrors before u off the engine...although it defeats the purpose of auto folding but somehow this module tend to not function when you park under hot sun for long

drive side dun function can just push it out but big hassle when the passenger side dun open and you have to get out (am using bucket seat) to push open the passenger side mirror...

Hi bros, wow i thought i am the only one who has this problem with my car,i am not alone, kekeke!

I installed this gadget a year ago with my colleague who is driving a FD2 but it seems only i have this problem and he always laugh when my car's ear one open, one close and it is quite paiseh whenever that happens in public especially in front of a coffeeshop and imagine if it is raining?

But why does it always gets stuck when park under hot sun?

i also have this problem. And i realized my left side mirror is easier to flip open than to auto-close.

what i did was...
i fully closed both my side mirrors, and then pressed the auto-folding button to open it again.. (at this point of time, the left side mirror did not flip out, so i went to the side mirror and heard the motor still running - the sound it lets out is a very dead slow sound) i manually flipped the left side mirror slowly and at one point of time, the side mirror somehow caught the cache again and in the end it auto-folded back open..

(is it because the "motor-cache" or can i say the "teeth" generated by the motor for the side mirror is aligned off? or the long use of opening and closing causes it to off alignment? or is it the heat that causes it? Please advise.)

although now the side mirror is working but it is obvious the speed is different because when it fully closed or open, the sound will always reminds you of the lapsed from the right side mirror. :( :(

I asked a few workshop around and this is like a very common problem. It is the gear inside the mirror that is worn out already.

To fix this problem, we have to get a new side mirror or find a new motor as they can't disassemble the side mirror to repair the gear.

As my left side mirror is always giving me problems, I removed the whole auto fold module. So now I have to press the button to close the mirrors.

Mine too.
Kinda paiseh if it happens at a quiet mscp.
Sometimes lock car already, forgot something, go back unlock car.... Blender starts blending.
Haiz.
Heard side mirror assembly not cheap, though haven't gone to stockist to confirm pricing.
Seems to happen only on the L/H side?
Drink... Drive.
Bloody idiot.

I already disabled my auto fold. Yes, left side folding sound is like blender, very loud.

I just replaced mine and not sure if it is original. But it also sounded like a blender.
Anyway to reduce the sound e.g. Oil the mechanism?
