Post by ahdom » Mon Oct 10, 2011 1:42 pm

Hi, i drive an ES5 and have had whining sounds from my powersteering pump for afew days now..

Took the car to KAH motors for a check and they quoted me 1200 to replace the entire pump.

Anyone can share if this about right for the pump replacement?

HUAT!!! 1200 for a miserable pump

The previous time I did my T-belts change with water pump, TDC, fuel filter, new battery, full air con service, change all bulbs except halogen headlight and new steering pump, total cost me around SGD500 wif a honda agent, dats in Thailand.

Bro, same prob with mine.

Just get to know that honda have original repair kit parts for the steering pump.
Just did mine at JB, which cost me only RM 160. WOrking perfectly fine after the repair.
Includes flushing and steering fluids.
It's authentic parts, they will service and change all the necessary rings and bushings in the pump.
Don't have to change the whole pump.

Kha Motor quote me $900 for A/C compressor replacement. I went to Damn Cool A/C and had it replaced for $500.

ok went to another workshop, also same outcome.
say pump need to change, and very expensive - ard 1k+

meanwhile they topped up the power steering fluid for me and the whining sounds have gone away.
steering feels find too, not getting heavier.. basically power steering is working?

should i

1. still proceed with the replacement of the pump
or
2. drive around and see how long it takes or if it still leaks fluid anymore and then get another assessment done?

Thanks bros for the advice!
