Car Inspection - Edix

Hi all seniors,

I have just acquired a used Edix 1 month ago. The car is due for the first inspection in 3 years.

So I went for my inspection last week at Ayer Rajah ST Inspetion and as expected. They failed my insepction due to the tinted rear glass.

I tried explaining to them that this is a JDM glass and shouldn't have any prob since it was holomogated by PI last time when they brought in the car. However, they do not care about my explanation and still failed me. They asked me to either go explain to LTA or speak to the PI that brought in the car.

True enough, I was kicked like a ball by all parties and nobody want to take the responsibility. LTA said they are unable to pass me due to the rear glass failed the tint standard. The PI claimed that the car was transfered and sold, so they can't honor the warranty. (the car is still under warranty).

Can any kind soul here advise hodid you guys managed to pass your insepction and do you have any prob with the rear tint glass?

Pls advise coz I'm stuck. Do not know what to do and I need to renew my road tax soon. Any workshop that you know of can loan me the rear glass just for me to go back and pass the inspection? Find that this whole inspeion thingy is crap, with many grey areas and no doubt with double stnadard. Going for insepction is just for the sake of going in order to pay the $$$ to LTA!!! What's the point of failing me, just one Edix, when there are still so many other models with tint JDM glass running round on Spore road....one good example are the Toyota Harrier.

By the way, do not go to Ayer Rajah ST Insepction coz I have failed my previous 2 cars and 1 bike inspection there. They are especially 'ON' and pick on small trivial things just to fail the inspection.

Any kind soul can advise wat to do?
The inspector told me to change the whole rear glass if it is not tinted with film.
That was ridiculous! It was original which came with the car. If so, they should not had allowed to import this car in!

Sorry to hear that you have failed your inspections.

With regards to the glass I also have the smae problem but I was lucky cos when I purchase the car I went down to check it out and my PI changed it to a approved ones.

But the original ones looks better and darker.

Bro, maybe you can go to any solar film shop to verify again, same time check issit tinted or original, hope that helps

Hi all bros, thks for all your concern.
Finally it is settled! I call up lta to complain abt this and they told me to go back to the inspection centre to check again. I inspected my car at yishun vicom, but when lta call me I was nearby sin Ming area so I ask her whether I can go sin Ming vicom. She checked and call me back is ok to go sin Ming vicom, and she told me to look for ahdulah. So I went ahead and ahdulah check my rear glass to make sure there is not solar film. He let me pass straight away, and he told me the yishun guy should have passed me, cause lta had already approved this model abt 1 year ago because too many had complained abt this issue. That was really good news to me! Cause previously they had to change the rear glass which cost $650.

So to all Edix owners, next time when you want to inspect your cars better send to sin Ming vicom. Hope this info helped!

+1 for Vicom Sin Ming.

Just went this morning for the 5th year inspection. Cleared it A ok. No questions whatsoever on the rear glass.

I went to STA Ayer Rajah this morning. Passed without questioning the window tint.

i think we can all rejoice. Ayer Raja Inspection closed down several months ago. Maybe due to kenna complain until jialat jialat
