Hi all, need your advice.

I notice that when my car (honda civic, bought in Jun 07) stays stationally and when the air con compressor kicks in after every abt 10-15 secs, my car will tends to shiver and will feel slight vibration. It will start to shiver a bit initially and after a few mths, it will get worse n worse.

I went for my servicing and accordingly to the advisor, they mention that its the problem of too much carbon at the throttle area. He offers to clean it up for me and true enough, the problem disappear.

However, after abt 4 mths since the last servicing, i start to feel the shivering again. A check with a workshop and he suspects that its the air con compressor problem and advise me to contact KM. he oso heard recently that KM had recalled some cars due to compressor problem.

is this true?

How can I solve my shivering problem?

If car is still under warranty, go back to KM.....

I encountered the same shivering problem too for my Civic. I do not notice this when travelling in my fren Toyota. Any expert out there can advice on the cause of this problem?

Hey guys, my friend used to have this prob too, well maybe for the time being, ya guys can try anit-clockwising your idling screw, helps for awhile but not for long. Cheers!

Yah, I oso never notice this problem when travelling in my fren's subaru.

now going to test it out on my fren's civic...

This normally happens when your car is stationary for long period of time with aircon on. The load of running the aircon while vehicle is stationary will cause it to vibrate. Suggest if you intend to wait for more than 3 minutes in the car with aircon, it would be better to switch off. This would save on carbon emission and lesser wear on your car.

Understand... but when i send my car for the last servicing a few mths back, km engineer said that it is caused by the carbon residue in the throttle area and they suggest to help me clear it. True enough, the problem went off but it came back a few weeks later. And it happens even when i stop at traffic light.

If its the air con problem, is it the norm for all honda civic out there? How come i cant feel anything in my fren's suzuki or subaru?

What is your rpm while the car is warm up during idle?

mine old 06 civic no shivering mode when idle or N mode leh.

bro when i first bought my car i had a similar problem.. mech says its a engine mounting problem.. one of the mounts was faulty and he replaced it at a pretty low cost.

problem solved.

but after my recent accident the problem resurfaced .. the impact probably loosened the mounting? not sure yet.. but ill get it checked and ill get back to you

it's a 2005 ES5.

i checked my receipt dated one year ago when i replaced my engine mounting.. (not sure how many the mech replaced, but it solved the shivering then)

cost is $250 including labour. jurong area

normally when the steering or interior starts to vibrate, the culprit is always the mounting for my case...be it engine or gear mounts
