New to Modding!

Post by yinsheng » Sun May 31, 2009 5:06 pm

Hi guys,

I'm totally new to modding and just picked it up as a hobby due to the influence of my friends. At the same time its perfect because my dad's warranty just ended on his Civic VTi ES 1.6(A).

Recently upgraded to a Hurricane drop-in filter. (Seems hard to find for ES)

Some questions:
- How do you all differentiate ES1, 5 and 8? How do I know which is mine?
- Is it advicable to change the sparks plug for my model?
- Planning on upgrading to stainless steel braided hose, but not sure where i can get cheap ones? And which do you guys recommend?

Nice to meet you all!

legal mods... first your filter... you got your hurricane drop in - good. your Intake section is done. do not demod your air resonator and air box. you need them for good low-mid range power for your auto.

H is for header. also no need to mod... unless you want to drive at 220kmh all the time... 200 enough leow.

E is for exhaust. For ES, you only can go Supersprint... SGD$800 for a new piece plus certification. Go to Jeep Chee. yes can put here becos they the ONLY legal place to get (to be corrected if wrong by other more knowledgable bros out there)

once this is done, you can have option to put in the AFC NEO. Unit, plus install and dynotune can go Silent look for Vic, or contact ultrabear...

so much for power part.

brakes - (1) upgrade to stainless steel braided hose. Front AND Rear hor.. dun do front only becos the rear hoses expand... you still lose braking efficiency.

(2) upgrade to higher performance brake pad - e.g. feroddo 550 degree pads, or Project Miu 500 degree pads. do remember to bed them in properly tho.. .it takes a week at least to bed them in properly, unless you drive them on track.. which 500 degrees won't cut it... but i digress...

(3) change to dot4/600 brake fluids... (after you do your brake hoses) but if you dun track, prolly dot4 will be sufficient. just change your brake fluids every 20,000km (not expensive if you using normal dot4)

suspensions - you dun need full coilovers... unless you doing serious sports driving... then the BC coils are best bang for buck. buy new. if you want to try spring/shock combinations, then Eibach Prokit springs and Bilstien B8 shocks are best combination for ES... or B12... but u want cheep and good? go for BC...

enough mods for now?

NONSENSE...

we all started stock... and it's always nice to see a 100% stock ES come join us.

and let me tell u... we have NEVER laughed at any ES owner for not modding his car. (yet)

Just becos you stock you SELF EXILE... not our fault... we already welcome you to come... you on your own decision and imagination decide not to...

Okie. Shall try to go for meet ups if I can. Cause I'm in the army. Btw I'm Andy.

So I should do my exhaust next? What would you guys do after drop-in. Was thinkin exhaust for the sound? Or Steel braided hose for better brakes first? Or coilovers?
