Is that your EK at Sepang? I might've taken a few pictures of your car if you've attended SGtrackies' track days or time attacks in the past where there's only ONE black EK4 running around..if i'm not wrong that is...heh
I haven't had as much opportunity to go up to Sepang these days, so the current look of my car should just about reflect what it is, so if you took pictures of a Choon's liveried pre-facelifted Ek4 with black rims, then yes it should be me lah!! Previously I was running the stock EK4 rims and I don't think there would be any other joker that would take a black EK4 with stock rims on track lah, so if you have pics of that it should be me as well lah hahah!!
The pics in my signature are from the last MPT Time Attack (2008 2nd round)...
There is another black facelifted EK4 sedan that also joins SGTrackies track days, I've met with him at PG and SIC before...

I guess the idea of an engine that revs to 7000+ rpm that is an automatic is just a little wierd to me, especially if it's a honda..you know ..itchy backside n all..heh
The stock B16A5 automatic revs a bit lower than the manual A4; the rev counter starts blipping itself around 400rpm lower than the manual. But hey, it's still producing power at that type of revs, unlike most other comparable cars of its era!

but in the end I might just keep the car running as it is until I come around to buying a whole Bxx block (haven't thought of it yet...) but I guess that'll be in the last thing after all the other chassis upgrades in the future..IF i even get around to doing those..no point doing a slapdash job for a very capable-running car

I've been down this road before, the EK4 autobox handles well even if power and torque is bumped up.... B18 and built B20's are fine, depending on how hard you wanna push the baby. There are also ways and means to make an automatic to manual conversion last, but yes, do a proper job and not a slapdash effort, cos you will regret a short while down the road if the conversion isn't done properly!
Anyways, the automatic is quite a gem to throw around on track as well....I've brought the automatic to many a Sepang and Pasir Gudang session, and managed to have as much fun as the next dude!

As a moot point...does Hayden or some other brand make auto-tranny coolers for the EK4A? I would want to be investing in those as I've ruined my old car's auto-box before by hard-lining it without the proper cooling..heh
I was running a HKS ATF cooler, I've since sold that to a bro driving an automatic WRX, but yes Hayden makes ATF coolers with reliable cores. Match a good ATF cooler with premium and reliable ATF fluid and you're good to go! If you thrash the car around alot, just change ATF as per a manual car would change the gear oil. For these cases, throw the handbook recommended fluid change intervals out the window!
