Petrol problem for D16!

Post by ryanyeo85 » Wed May 13, 2009 2:53 pm

Hi bros,

Hope someone can help me on this problem. I have been running RON95 fuel on my ESi for sometime. But only recently when driving with A/C off, I noticed a loud "tick, tick, tick" when parking the car. So I opened bonnet and confirmed sound coming from the engine. Funny thing is when A/C on, the sound is very very soft. And tried reset ECU also, but still the same.

Rush to mech next day to check. He used metal pipe to "hear" the engine and confirm that the tappet adjustments is ok. So he confirmed is engine knocking and ask me to try RON98!

Dun mean to fuss, but RON98 is expensive lo. Any bro experience this problem on D16 before? I have asked around and everyone says RON95 is more then enough for D16!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Bros,

You guys are right. Just went and pump in RON98! After leaving the petrol station, the response is improved and no more funny funny sound.

Wah. But does this mean the previous owner must have put some poison in?

Cheers

not neccessarily is high com engine. maybe your ignition timing too advance or retard. go and have it checked..

if wan pump 95..then retard ur timing..even though advance timing can improve pick up..it does cause serious problem to the piston if it is too advance.
