Smoking exhaust. Need advice.

Hi all, need advice.
Was told by friend driving behind my car that white/greyish smoke can be seen from my exhaust when revving the car. Also notice that engine is consuming engine oil. Idling and normal driving are ok, no smoke seen. Is it true that this may not be due to the piston/piston ring but the valve seal? If so, any way to differential which is leaking without opening up the engine?

frm the situation tat u had explained...i suppose tat 1 or more of ur engine parts maybe faulty...something is leaking...maybe ur gasket leaking or piston ring crack or lose its tension
best 2 let a mech 2 check properly...if not u got 2 prepare a bottle of engine oil n keep it in ur boot so as able 2 maintain ur engine oil level

Thanks for the advice!
The gasket should be intact as I don't see any oil present in the radiator coolant. To check will probably need to open up the engine and cost involved will be quite substantial (I guess). That's why trying to ask around if there is any way to differentiate if valve seal or piston having problem. The rate of engine consuming the oil is still tolerable at the moment, but also wondering how bad will it deteriorate.

Im currently experiencing similar situation as you. When cold start will emit substantial amt of whitish smoke, but when warmed up its ok, engine oil consumtion also bearable...
Workshop tell me 'its nothing lah!', but i suspect otherwise...

something wrong.
check radiator water.
if its murkish, its head gasket.
else piston ring up lorry

oil consumption problem. do compression test first off.
