do take note that if u use saris bone, may have problem
mounting the 2 top hooks to top edge of door if u have
spoiler. If no spoiler no problem.
Rear Bicycle Rack ??
yesterday, I almost purchased the Saris RF. the reason I like this as opposed to other Saris racks was that this could be secured with minimal cables etc
you can see a description of this at http://www.saris.com/bike-racks/vehicle ... egory_id=7
however, when the salesman tried to demo this on my XRD, he noted that the bottom of the car boot was lined by plastic and protruded slightly from the bottom of the boot. this meant that, not only was the plastic fragile and might break upon pressure from tying, the protrusion meant the hook could not sit properly on the bottom and hence could slip out
any bro had bought the Saris RS and confirm this?
pity.....

Saris bone
Hi, I've tried saris bone on xrd. Can use, but when u carry 2 bikes, the weight mightcause dent onto ur rear panel. Tis happened to mine. So I'm using roof mount system for 2 bikes currently.

Sorry guys, know this is an old thread but I need to get some advice on rear mounted bike racks.
Was looking at Saris Bones 2 or 3 (intention is to carry only one bike). Can anyone with first hand experience confirm that this system can really be used on our XRD?
I was chatting with the salesperson at Trek and he mentioned that the 2 bottom hooks may crack the bottom of the rear door which is plastic in nature. He suggested that this can be overcome by cutting 2 holes/gaps to accomodate the hooks but I am not keen on doing this.
Thanks!
