195,000km servicing this morning = basically oil change and accessory belt change (belt condition ok but has turned a strange brown colour so just change laj) and aircon gas top-up at SKM Motors -- everything for $165 :D

Decent and quick enough service from Ah Heng and his young mech, but I had to pick up after that young mech - he didn't screw back the aircon gas outlets caps and he didn't fix back the gearbox damping lever after cleaning the cabin aircon filter

Also noticed that I didn't escape from a minor minor fender bender 2 weeks ago scot-free -- at that time, I carelessly slipped off the clutch and nudged the back bumper of a Mercedes = nothing wrong with his or my bumper, so I thought... but today, I noticed the front grill is out of alignment and can't be pushed back.

Quick trip down to Hui Yang at Sin Ming confirmed that the impact did some damage = clips broken so black silicone to the rescue!! Also spotted some paint cracks but considering the overall paint condition, closing both eyes as there is less than 2 and half years left to go.

is it worth it? I was having the thoughts of doing it too till I realize that the parf value will be gone. so if we do some calculations, the parf value plus let's say the current COE price, this means that easily the car depre is like 9K+ a yr?

I think tts not worth it for a COE car.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Agree cos I personally felt I won't be driving a performance ride all my life.

Hope to go for a comfy one next round...

Yup -- out of the three Ps of Pace (power), Practicality (space/FC) and Price, will definitely sacrifice on pace to get something comfy, roomy and fuel-sipping and reasonable to buy and run.

Singapore is the wrong country for car nuts -- or at least car nuts with not even peanut dust in their pockets (cannot say peanuts since someone said before that $600K is peanuts!!! )
So I'm a born-again cyclist hoping to keep fit and save some fuel by TKCing (tak kar chia) but must also be careful as bicycles can be another money pit!!!

It used to be 12 mths average until one bloody scholar went n changed to 3
when our COE was very low for awhile many years back. And now the COE is
so high but no one switch it back to 12 mths. Knn, we are suck big time!

Funny -- I thought I was on page 79 of this mini-blog?

Anyway, personal milestone reached: just went past 200,000km mark -- car went for simple servicing and mechs tell me the original engine mounts are still ok/good!! Must be my underwhelming pussyfoot driving!!

So coming up the car's 8th birthday and that means raod tax and insurance time? Any suggestions for 3rd party? Renewal notice is for $900+++

ml2spin wrote:Note to self: F***-care attitude with exterior and corresponding driving style ONLY works with newer shiny cars and utterly useless against beat-up lorries and commerical vehicles.

Was rushing to meet up with cycling kakis to ride around Kranji area and was too eager at a mergering lane with a lorry who didn't back down so left side wing mirror got smacked but I could unfold it with controls so I thought everything was ok and didn't chase down the lorry guy. But actually there was also contact on the fender - slight dent and paint rub mark.

Luckily a quick polish at Hui Yang removed the paint transfer (thought it was worse so that's why I went down for a quote) and I decided not to repair the dent, since it is just one of many blemishs on this car.
Yup, someone once said, exterior belongs to others. Interior belong to de owner.

I agree...

My ride also black colour but due to family, can't spend much time as before bringing back the shine.
