Lifespan of tyres

Post by aloha_06 » Sun Mar 30, 2008 7:32 pm

Hi pple, Wat's the lifespan of the factory fitted potenza RE 030? I've done 60000 km/ 2yrs & the year of manufacture of the tyres is 05. I'm not sure if the tyres has gone 'hard' as the ride has been became abit noiser.

imo, in our weather condition, a working set would last only 1 year or so...

The treads are still in good condition.

2 years can change already, though thread still thick, but rubber may have hardened and unsafe already.

i read that lifespan is 3yrs from date of manufacture. but also depends on road conditions, weather, driving style...

Looks like i have to change.....i think i'd change the rims as well. I was think changing it to 16" but what's the tyres that's suitable to close the gap between the tyres and the body?

Usually 16" tyre is using 205/45 R16, you can try 205/50.
Cheers!

Close the gap, lower the car ba. If use a different tyre profile then your speedometer will not be accurate already.

See above link.

But if u wanna get 205/50/R16, I'm selling my rim and tire.

rule of thumb to change tyres should be 40000km mileage or 2 years, whichever is earlier.. that's what i heard before and followed..

safety very important...
treads looks fine but it does not grip well, especially on rainy weather...
do be carefull....
& don get 2nd hand tyre jus to save cost...

this is a good rule of thumb.

actually i would think 30-40K, would be a good time to change.

rather be safe than sorry.

the only contact point of the vehicle is the tyres.
so safer is better
