Mobilio

Post by mobilio » Thu Sep 16, 2004 12:34 pm

Any mobilio users here? How about any other friends?

Need to check what is the ATF replacement interval for this car? And what ATF liquid to use.

Anyone can give some recommendations for workshops that specialise more for Honda cars servicing?

Currently my mobilio had done about 45k mileage.

Thank u for reading and please reply...

Hi,

The car is so far so good till now. Like what most people say about Honda cars, it has a firm ride but it actually feels comfy when loaded up more. I am happy with the reliability that has made the Honda name till now.

I would like to do an intro to this car since there are not many on the road... to share about the car features:

The most impressive stuff I like about it is:

1) Flexible layout:
- rear seats can be folded under 2nd row seats (giving an enormous flat boot space) for Mon to Fri driving. (Carens, Premacy just can't do that!)

- Middle row can be ejected up to align behind the front row seats creating a longer and larger transport space.

2) 3rd row seating is comfortable (can take 2 guests whenever necessary)
- I'm almost 1.8m but I still seat comfortably with the legs at rest in normal sitting position. Unlike some other cars I've tried on before making this purchase, the last row normally sits in a legs up position. I thought the current Stream sits more like a recliner in the last row (maybe i sat wrongly? :?
- The other 3rd row seven seaters cars I've tried are Kia Carens, Peugeot 307SW, Stream, Mazda Premacy 2.0 (not tried the Toyota Sienta since it came out later)

3) Petrol consumption is decent:
Running at 1500cc, its about 12.8 - 13.8 km/l (30% highway w/jam, 70%urban) and road tax is far cheaper than all 7 seaters.

4) Spirited performance from the drive:
Though the power output is nothing as compared to the other Honda models, I still feel it is good enough when driving alone most of the time to work. Engage SPORTS mode when necessary. Drive as a courteous driver when loaded up... since not enough Horses.. heheheh.

5) Parking is a breeze:
Seven seaters and shorter than most saloons at slightly more than 4metres.

6) Enormous head space:
Can only recall it was especially useful when I lasted moved house... but its a chore when washing the top if without a stool. BTW, at 1.7m it easily clears most carparks but I ever came across one at 1.6m and have to gostan. (it was hotel grand central next to le meridien hotel at orchard road)

7) Sliding doors:
Great for city tight parking... what can I say? Unless this is like America carparks... unless we have that kind of land space...

8) Flat centre row cabin (thought I still saw it in many cars the passenger has to legs up in the 2nd row middle seat)

Lastly: you can only get original bodykits for this car since it is JDM.

Great for your friend, the newer model has auto rear opening doors at the remote and a classier look. Besides that, the choice of VTEC ...

Regards

PIs selling it then were Auto Symbol at Sin Ming and Chek Guan at West Coast carmart.

Got it for $85k... think its about the same as Toyota Sienta now..

It can use standard 92 RON!! 1yr warranty but parts are the same as Jazz and City here.

2004 has choice of I-DSI and VTEC... 2002 model is only I-DSI 1500cc.

Mobilo bro, thanks for your detailed review of your ride! It's good to see more varied types of Hondas running on the roads. I usually see more models of Toyotas, but it's more refreshing to see PI Hondas that you can't get from KM.

Do join us for meetups if you are free so we can admire your ride!

Hi,

1. With Edix 1.7L and Stream 1.7L going slightly above 70K mark, I would assume that it costs less to own a Mobilio now. Probably around 65K or less based on current COE price.

2. I'm looking at Mobilio but have questions here:
a) According the Honda HQ website, the 05 Mobilio have lowered version with Blackie suspension and special exhaust pipe. Do you have these?
b) There are two engine types, 1.5L I-DSI and VTEC. Which one did you get?
c) Is 1.5L really underpowered to load 6 to 7 passegners?
d) Can the 3rd row seat 2 adults? Is it comparable to Stream's 3rd row?

3. Yes, I like the sliding doors The rear spoiler and bodykit would make the car look less boxy and sportier. Perhaps, we can meet up and for me to admire your car.

Hi there,

Yeah, i should think so... looking at the Sienta price of around 65K ... you are right.

I saw the 2002 mobilio sometime last week with a Silver SF? plate somewhere... hope the guy is reading this. Maybe he can share how much he purchased it.

2a) No, the 2002 mobilio has standard setups that you can find at the Worldwide HQ website- http://world.honda.com/news/2001/4011221.html. No LTA certified sports exhaust for this car - SIGH :(

2b) Unfortunately, the Mobilios brought in in 2002 were only I-DSI 1.5litre specs... you know i wish i could use a drop in 1.5 VTEC from Japan since the new model supports it.

2c) The Mobilio at 1.5L is REALLY capable enough to pull all 7 adults (my friends "GIANT" family - from dad, mum, sister, wife and himself, the car dealer and myself) when we went for test drive.

Light stepping from less than 3000rpm. You can do normal driving comfortably at <= 3000rpm with full passengers. Guessed Honda's engineers really worked the special 1.5 DSI engine nicely to work with the full CVT transmission. But don't expect overtaking manoeuvers like a normal sedan with this a full load.

I guess you can try overtaking someone with a Honda Civic with 7 onboard and see if you can pull a fast one... heheheh.

2d) Yes, the rear seats 2 adults comfortably at a normal seating angle. I'm approx 1.8m and when i sat the last time in a Stream, i find my knees in a rather awkward upward position due to the "high" platform on the rear of the Stream (and recently i just tried sitting the rear seats of a Toyota Wish... it was just as bad...)

3) Erm... sure, maybe can ask my friend's White kitted Toyota Sienta to come along eh?

:?: ExTRAs wishes :?: :

4) I hope someone brings in the 1.5L VTEC version and lemme explore it

5) Can anyone indicate if modifying the rear seats to have the latest head rests are available locally? Else, someone can introduce any lobang to buy the newer rear seats with headrest from Japan market?

1. Thanks for the reply. I'm curious to find out, which Pi is carrying the Mobilio. Do you any any leads?

2. Lets meet up as I'm keen to explore the interior of Mobilio if given the opportuinity. Let me know, when is a convenient date and time to meet, preferably weekend.

3. Is sienta as spacious a car as Mobilio? VTEC engine is fast replacing by I-VTEC in the future. so I'm not sure whether there will be a 1.5L I-VTEC engine of Mobilio in the near future. Who knows, I may be the one driving the VTEC version next.

Thank you.

Thanks for the information. It seems that Honda is rolling out many new models next year, this includes the 06 Stream and odey. Do you know where to gather information about this Honda "Mini MPV"? Fit is not a MPV so its not under my consideration. The closest is Airwave, which is based on Fit platform but still, it is not a MPV.
