Huh??? Is there mugen heatshield for D-series engine??? If have... I don't mind buying it. Errrr... Ron, maybe u might wanna have a read on the LTA website for Car-Mods. I remember that we cannot any protruding parts sticking out of the car.

Carbon fibre, fibre glass is still acceptable... but metal??? You're gonna get hell for ROV when they sees it.

It is not always when Peter says "Oh this can DIY then we can go DIY mah...".Then when someone else says want to DIY something, like look at him strangely. Peter is good in DIY and I fully admire his DIY Skills.
Dun bother abt mi lah...I think today I abit siao liao by the Stupid flu and sore throat... :?
Yeah... All of us admire Pete's DIY skills, he is good... DIY is good... but not all things we can DIY. Certain small things can be DIY :D of cos for sure... like you've said Heatshield, Oil Catchcan. But fins?... hmmmm... :?

Oh well... u better go see a doctor and get well soon. Else, Friday will not be the same without u.

I was thinking the easier way out earlier cos i am in the sheetmetal line mah.

Have to think of alternatives for the material.....
PU seems out of the question as it will need a mould to produce the profile, machine PU will be darn expensive.
ABS can be bend but will crack.
Trust me on this, metal parts sticking out of the car a big no no when it comes to the authorities....in fact even stuff like CF or fibreglass, if the officer isn't in a good mood he'll have some reason or another to give you trouble out of it.....

The probable reason he'll give is "protusions cause danger to other motorists" or "if component gives way might cause damage to tires/car or other vehicles" that sorta shit.....

Have you seen the type of material they use for my ARC winglet? If you can find a similar type of material I don't see why you can't fabricate something similar....maybe don't use the bend-technique, how about heat-shaping? Granted this method will weaken the structure of the part (heck metals will kenna this problem too) but these bolt on parts aren't meant to be super-strong, they're meant to snap off or break off on a hard enough impact instead of retaining enough viable mass to cause further damage either to your own car or to others....

Don't give up on the DIY spirit bro, just gotta be mindful of what we can achieve under the stringent "guidelines" we have to live under....

But but but you got balls what.....you played with TP before what.....hahahahaha......

Ha ha I think you're addressing that to Wilson huh?

Ha ha I think you also know I have nothing against DIY lah.....although I won't really get down to doing things myself, I respect people for willing to try on coming up with their own homemade versions of off-the-shelf items....my post simply highlights the things that cannot be done be it due to problems with the authorities and regulations or stuff that requires too much effort to be anywhere near practical. That's why I suggested alternative materials cos I know for sure you put protuding metal parts on your car it's gonna get you lots of unwanted attention (eg. GT-wings which have no real place and/or value on a road car).....

Heh heh I will never give a  look to people when they competently talk about tech stuff.....everyone comes from a different school of knowledge be it about modding or car tech......and we have to be receptive of differing opinions and ideas, not confusing this with being passionately vitrulent about our own stand and ideas. Differing opinions and ideas can co-exist within a seemingly violent and confrontational environment. Remember the incident when you guys thought I was lashing out at Peter about his Spoon shite? Me and SpannerBoy had a pretty good laugh over it between ourselves ya know.....at no point were we even like unhappy with each other. I'll still suan and mock Pete about his blue shite everytime it comes to mind and he'll suan me about my fat butt or green sticks too....

I feel besides TP/ROV and stuff, most important is safety. Metal protrusions even stationary may cause injury to yourself from you own careless or to others. Unless the intent is to fix weapons onto the car lah...

Don't think anyone should be discourage from DIY. Whether installation of aftermarket parts or modding parts, it is the satisfaction of getting it done in the way that you want it. I could never have located my ATF cooler at it's current location, so it's just as satisfying seeing the workshop finding the place to mount it.

That's hiragana character set versus katakana character set......and we're using Chinese characters for the Auto instead of A cos that's a wee bit too much like Initial D's ProjectD liao..... So...... Your siggie might be confused with the "legitimate" ProjectD and that's definitely not D for D-series hur hur hur......

yo kennie! the winglet thing is best to do it in ABS plastic.. i juz came back from JB after visiting a plant.. saw a few protons with alu body pieces.. aluminum deteriorates very rapidly when exposed to particle impact.. i.e. it has poor surface properties

listen to joe.. he's got the experience in such things.. you can just order the ARC one.. i think it's only about 400.. trust me if you custom CAD and fabricate it'll be more ex than that hehe

Hi Pete,

Hmm......ABS material should not be a problem.
But i will need to come out CAD dwgs. Once that is out, there is no problem with fabrication. I have suppliers that can fabricate for me at a small cost or even FOC....
Being in a international procurement arena has its privileges.....
