bro, think i shd b joining u. dun think that my flexi pipe is long enough....simple wrote:Hi zippyalex,
If you are going to the mini diy day, do you think you can help me out fixing the cool air intake flexible hose (as in giving my instruction what to do, dont need you to phsically to help)? If yes, how long do i need for the flexible hose? Is there other things that I require? Screw and nuts, adjustable bracket and what else? Can share with me as I wanted to DIY it myself if it is no too much trouble for you, tks.
DIY Day Part 6: Postponed to May
I have another funny idea.
Thoughts of fabricating a pair of winglets for the front lip....
Probably can even have a full piece for side skirts. Nothing too exaggerating. Just a normal L-bend
Material : Aluminum 5052-H32
Thickness : 1.0 mm
Texture : Hairline process 120/150 grit.
Finish : Black Anodise
Should be quite lightweight and just bolt onto existing holes for the lip.
For the skirts, have to drill holes underneath.
Any comments anyone?

Just bear in mind if you ever get stopped by TP/ROV there's no way you can explain your way out.....metal material strapped onto the exterior of the car is highly dangerous for lots of reasons. And I'm not even gonna mention the side skirt!!
You wanna fabricate you're better off using PU or other non-metal type materials like fibre or CF kevlar.

Joe, I second to what you've said. BTW, how did you get the Jap words onto your signature??? Been trying to do that.DIRT22 wrote:Just bear in mind if you ever get stopped by TP/ROV there's no way you can explain your way out.....metal material strapped onto the exterior of the car is highly dangerous for lots of reasons. I think wat Kennie is going to do ok mah...
Whoa you have NO idea what the friendly TP/ROV officer is gonna say to you when he bends down, feels the "wings" or "skirts" and realises they're metal....anything eye-catching you put on your car HAS to be more or less "legal" or failing which, look as "legal" as you can get them to be.....Civician© wrote:I think wat Kennie is going to do ok mah...
Kaching kaching kaching.... $ $ $ $
Two of my Evo friends got caught before, both on ABS material ARC Magic winglets like mine. One got fined for both his ARC metal wing segment (on Evo wing stands) and ARC front lip winglets, the other one managed to argue his way out (saying the ARC winglets not metal material will crumple with car blah blah) and he got off, maybe cos he had stock Evo wing segment.
Differing standards even when it comes to the same things, you still wanna play play with putting METAL adornments on your ride? You got balls man....can go play with TP/ROV on the roads liao.....

Joe is right, metal protruding out of the car is an valid attraction for ants.
I was thinking the easier way out earlier cos i am in the sheetmetal line mah.
Have to think of alternatives for the material.....
PU seems out of the question as it will need a mould to produce the profile, machine PU will be darn expensive.
ABS can be bend but will crack.
Argh.....
*THINK*
Might as well buy off the shelf!!!
hahaha

Hey Bro, I am not saying I got balls to play with TP/ROV...I am just trying to say the point that there is always aftermarket parts for most of the things that can be DIY. Just like example, Heatshield, Oil Catch Tank, etc.DIRT22 wrote:Whoa you have NO idea what the friendly TP/ROV officer is gonna say to you when he bends down, feels the "wings" or "skirts" and realises they're metal....anything eye-catching you put on your car HAS to be more or less "legal" or failing which, look as "legal" as you can get them to be.....Civician© wrote:I think wat Kennie is going to do ok mah...
