ya.. I know. Au version needs 95, people had been using 98 and still cannot stop the pinging. Case escalated to japan, but still unresolved. Good thing is, some cars have it, some dont. So, fingers crossed. But bad luck if one gets a bad one. I can foresee messy disputes between buyers and pi. Best to wait till japan resolve the pinging.
Anyway, all K-series engine is equipped with Ping sensor. But I am curious as to how come this car is being launched, yet you guys say like that are thousands on Japan's road, with a lot of them saying the engine is pinging?

skali the sensor is not sensitive enough???then how ar???u have to understand that not everyone will experience the big 'O' when u touch the same area hor.....SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST MORE SENSITIVE HOR.....

this car is in fact, almost a year old. Honda just decide to launch in japan only. Au has the cu for almost a year. In the us, the acura tsx is almost half a year old.

As of Sep last year, there's supposed to be a unified Accord for ASIAN region; according to Vincent of KM. I think there's certain amount of truth in that statement cos Honda was supposed to launch Acura in Japan. That plan has since been postponed indefinitely.

Hence Acura TSX becomes JDM Accord again :-).

dont who that vincent of km is, but, yes, honda did have plans to launch acura in japan. Good thing that plan was put on hold, cos the acura grill sucks. Most current cl9 owners, after test driving the cu2 felt, while the car is good, it is not that good enough to want it. I am one me them. It is good, but not that good enough to warrant me to spend the 20k to switchover. The improvements are not significant enough. I would wait for the midlife upgrade, or go for the 3.5v6 thai accord, which is cheaper and faster, with similar fuel consumption..

Vincent is product manager (PM) of KM; u'll always see his name in the press as far as KM is concerned. In the SG auto industry, the PM is typically the person who decides what car model and config to bring into the country. Maybe, if we can band together ... we may just be able to convince him to import it officially - just as the MY guys convinced Honda MY to bring in CTR officially.

Wow ... u guys must have tried the CU2 in ANZ or Europe. Understand that the config of CU2 for ANZ, Europe and NA are also diff. JDM Accord has 5 more horses.

I suppose Inspire and Accord are fundamentally diff type of cars. But again ... to each his own.

official export jdm accords make only 200bhp, engine might have been detuned to account for the more common lower octane petrol. You probably can get the full 205bhp if you use 100ron.

I guess u could be right ... given premium (96 JIS) is equivalent to RON100, which is the fuel grade to display it's full potential. But Honda has also indicated that JDM Accord can also take regular unleaded petrol (89 JIS), which means it can take RON92 as well! So it seems all Honda JDM models are equipped with knock sensors afterall.

Anyone has any idea how much the JDM Accord will cost (24E, 24TL and 24TL Sports Style) when it reaches SG? I called a couple of reputable PIs ... no advice - Odyssey Absolute is going for abt 105k though.

for the jdm accord, i would not actually recommend using anything lower than 95ron. in AU, 95 is the min recommended... yes, the engine may run fine with 92/91ron, but i believe there must be a reson why honda australia has specified min 95. With petrol prices free falling, I had been using 98 instead of 95/96ron on my CL9 for the past few weeks. it is definitely much smoother, quieter, and powerful.

oo....really....I not as experienced as u to understand..

and the principle of ping sensor is not about sensitivity...if ping sensor is not good enuff...the next step is the technique used in F1 engine...but well...

Yeah ... agree. SG market prefers a big car with smaller displacement (due to our road tax structure). Survey conducted by KM shows up likewise. Accord is perceived as competitor to Camry and Teana. "Tow Kay" car; not a junior executive car. Sigh ... unlike JDM Accord.

Besides ... KM is contemplating of bringing in Acura. Conflict of interest.

Was surfing around and found an advert from a local PI selling the JDM Accord for $92,988 with guanranteed COE. Advert doesn't state est arrival date and variant.
