On engine rpm vs speed and noise, the limited experience I can share are:

1. At 140Km/h, engine speed is a relative low 2,800rpm (5th gear)
2. "ECO" light / mode goes off once engine hit 2,200rpm (even with light pressure on pedal)
3. Engine noise is still not as high as road noise at 140Km/h, wind noise is rather well supressed

Wow, thats a bit too bling bling for my liking. But I am pretty sure there will be some who dig it ... especially all the chrome bits and pieces.

Read the following info / rumors on one of the Japan car forum:

1) Sales figure of Crossroad in Japan is not ideal (only ~300/mth);
2) Production of Crossroad would cease at end of March (some even mention dealer no longer taking new order from thsi month);
3) One magazine stated new facelift model coming out in April (which I think might be related to pt. #1);
4) As with the facelift Stream, there will be a 5 seater model (maybe targeting at the new Mitsubishi RVR);
5) 1.8L model might be phased out and new model might come with CVT instead of 5 speed auto;

Stay tuned for more update...

Interetsting...

but our Crossroads are more of the niche market... just similar to Hummer.

You must like its concept before you really want to buy it. Unfortunately, not many people like boxy cars, so its likea love it or hate it affair...

Thats also explains why Hummer is losing big money too..

These cars are more for people with 'character'... it will bring out the character in us. I still go for both thumbs up for our Crossroad no matter what is the sales volume.

So far lots of my colleagues had praised my Crossroad, and one of my Commander even told me to inform him if I want to sell my Crossroad... :lol:

I wonder will it be a major or minor change to the car's styling but from what i see at car industries, first facelift usually will be a minor one, like new grill, backlight or headlight design and minimal changes to its underlying machinery. Hopefully, most of the new changes they make will also be compatible to the current design. Hmmm...I'm beginning to smell poison :twisted:

Yes, agreed fully that Crossroad is a niche model created for people like us that appreciate it look and functionality. And I have been asked by many both in Singapore and up north what model am I driving, engine cap, how much I got it, where is it available, etc. etc. which make me feeling extra proud of owning such a niche model! 8)

I believe the sales figure quoted in the Japanese forum is not true, as judging by the running chasiss number, my personal guess is that not less than 40,000 units have been produced since it launch 3 years (or to be exact, on 22 Feb 2007), which mean an average monthly sales figure of ~1,200. Not bad for a non-mass market model actually.

As to the facelift expectation, well I believe Honda would not want to spend too much to give the model an extreme make over, thus changes should be limited to a new lighting cluster (redesign headlight, LED taillight, etc.), probably foglight and wing mirror indicator would now be a standrad items for all model. Minor twit to the bumper are expected, giving it a more sporty or rugged look (maybe like the previous generation of CRV, there would be 2 outlook variants for different group of buyer).

5 Seater model is highly possible, and it might also be for the US market, replacing the aging Element. Engine wise, if R18A is to be dropped, Honda might load in the K24A, and again, that will be ideal for the US version.

So far, no further update from the Japanese forum.
