ATF oil change
ATF oil change
Would like to check with all the odyssey owners here if an ATF oil change is good enough or is a flush necessary, my rb1 is hitting 162k in mileage. Can I use fully synthetic transmission oil? What's the recommended transmission oil? Thanks
I go to this chap for my gearbox issues( not recommended in shc)
He's a gearbox specialist.

It (volume of ATF) all depends on how long the mechanic waits till its drip dry during draining.
Ultimately the true test is to check the ATF level after fill.
Drop car to stable level ground, and run engine at idle till radiator fan kicks in.(all load off, eg AC). And off engine.
Wait for 60secs and remove the transmission dip stick. Clean it n insert back.
Remove it to check.
The level should be between the Upper (hot) level and Lower(cold) level.
ATF level is always measured at operating temperature.

Just changed my ATF at a Neighbourhood workshop.
As usual they overfilled both the EO engine oil n ATF.
Most mechanics will overfill ....and many drivers dunno.
Overfill EO will increase the blowby pressure, damage gaskets n clog up vacuum hoses. Overfill ATF can affect pressure regulation within the hydraulic control unit/ valvebody, making shifting gear harsh.
My regular was bz, so now I got to suck out, got a big syringe,
the excess EO n ATF. Damn.
