Going for my 160,000km servicing soon.

Below are the items I changed during 80,000km servicing :
1) Timing Belt (14400-PLM-014)
2) Timing Bearing (14520-PLC-305
3) Compressor Belt (38920-PLC-003)
4) Power Steering Belt (56992-PLM-T01)
5) Washer (94109-14000)
6) Fuel Strainer (16010-S5A-931)
7) Packing, Head Cover (12030-PLC-010)

For the 160,000km servicing, only intend to change the following instead :
1) Timing Belt (14400-PLM-014)
2) Timing Bearing (14520-PLC-305
3) Compressor Belt (38920-PLC-003)
4) Power Steering Belt (56992-PLM-T01)
5) Washer (94109-14000)
6) No intention to change the Fuel Strainer this time
7) Head Cover packing was "forced" to change during 80,000km servicing even no leak bcos car was under warranty. So, not changing this time.

But when I purchased the items at Waterloo Street this afternoon, the uncle asked why I am not buying :
a) Water Pump
b) Cam Sub Sealing

Bro MCDS gave a link to the TEAMES malaysia forum. They recommend to change, other than the timing belts, :
a) Water Pump
b) Sensors (TDC Sensor + CKP Sensor)
c) Oil Seals (not sure if it is the same as above b) Cam Sub Sealing)

Of course, change everything is the best. But trying to minimize cost.

Question :
1) Do you change your Water Pumps during 160,000km servicing?
2) Do you change the Sensors mentioned in b) above
3) Any Bros here already run more than 200,000km and not changed the waterpump, sensors?

Thanks.

waterpump change is recommended. If your waterpump konk out in-between timing belt change, you will have to remove all your beltings, and do almost all the same operation as timing belt change to access and change the water pump... the workmanship cost will be very high. In other countries where labour is charged by the hour at US$55 per hour, the labour charge can be higher than your part itself...

but this is SE Asia/Malaysia/Sgp... but the labour charge will still be high for this one... it's at least a half day job to do your waterpump... u think the mechanics/workshop will charge you cheep for thier time?

that's why they put water pump change together with the timimg belt change, to do it 'by the way' you can keep the old water pump as a spare in case u wanna sell off your car and pass it to the next owner ... or change back the old one when the current one konks and u gonna sell car soon...

Thanks Bro MCDS.
How about the sensors?
Do you know if we need to remove the belting before we can access the sensors?
By the way, can any Bro here recommend workshop for timing belt change and the rough cost?
Thanks.

Tanly - full set of timing belt change parts minus sensors is around $300+ if memory serves.

Workmanship to do the timing belt change varies from $150-$180 from workshop to workshop. Some bigger workshops with more manpower will charge lower because they can turn around your car within 3-4 hours. Smaller workshops with one-man operation will take up to 5 hours hence a little more pricy.

most workshops can handle la... i go to my friend who is omo... so must let him 'tan jiak' as well lor... if you wan to kao guan him let me know via PM. He does a good job for me, and those I recommend...

others will also do a good job la - Merlin, Riverview, OSK, etc... all will do a good job especially if you sit there and watch them for 3 hours and ask intellegent questions...

hope the above helps.

Thanks Bro MCDS.
I got my stuff from Tanly actually.
Thanks for the labour price range too. At least I know what I'm expecting.
Will try to look around Woodlands area for the workshop cos I work around that area.

Head Cover Remove. (Nice 16 valve hee hee .....  ) Belt on the right is the timing belt.

Timing belt remove and at center is the location of the water pump (removed)

Another view of the Engine ....

The TDC & CKP sensor and the center one is crank timing pulley which work with CKP sensor as a pair to sensor position of the piston. Didn't change it as it cost ard $400+ to replace , but did do some clean and checking.

Cheers .....

Hi Bro macross43.
Thanks for the pics.
Since the head cover was removed, I assumed you change :
- Packing, Head Cover (12030-PLC-010) ?
I think I will also change the water pump.
Tanly selling slightly less than S$100 when I last asked them.
With all the valuable feedback from the Bros here, I somehow decide to change the following :

1) Timing Belt (14400-PLM-014)
2) Timing Bearing (14520-PLC-305
3) Compressor Belt (38920-PLC-003)
4) Power Steering Belt (56992-PLM-T01)
5) Washer (94109-14000)
6) Packing, Head Cover (12030-PLC-010)
7) Water Pump

Thanks.

Bro , best change ur water pump , think is quiet cheap althought when u take out and see maybe in good condition but only less $100 so just change for peace of mind.

As for the packing , i am not sure cos i left it to my mechanic to go buy , i didn't buy all the parts.

My mechanic dismantle all the things and take it to the supplier to compare and buy, so i don't know the parts number. btw u need the belt tensioner so i not sure if it is the same as ur timing bearing. Just comfirm this part.

Just a suggestion it is also good to change all ur oil together this time , like power steering fluid and Auto transmission oil (if urs auto) / manual transmission oil (for manual). When u change ur water pump , u sure need to change the radiator fluid liao so remember to get it too. Get the Pre-mix type so just add in can liao no need additional water. think u need ard 4 to 5 bottles, can't remember liao

Hope thats help

Cheers .....

I don't know any workshops. Had been using Wong from Kah Motors (formerly at Jurong but now at LengKee) even after warranty. He told me it's about S$300 +/- in all. Had made an appointment with him Tuesday.

Will update on the final servicing price later.

Cheers.
