Help! FD1 Engine Idling and Suspension

Post by sghonda » Tue Jan 19, 2010 2:08 pm

Hi all,

Just bought a 2nd hand FD1 few days ago and notice the following symptoms:

1) During cold start in the morning, the engine rpm will shoot up to 1000 to 1500rpm and it is very noisy. Is this normal? Shouldn't it be hovering around 1000rpm or less?

2) After the car has warmed up and say if I am waiting at the traffic lights, the rpm will hover around 700 and sometimes it will drop to 500-600, causing a little "tremble". This occurs quite frequently. Is this an ecu problem or anything I can do to improve it, eg grounding etc etc?

3) Brought the car to my mechanic and he mention that all 4 suspension already gone. i.e. When going over even the slightest bump on the road, there is sound.

My ride is a 07 FD1 and mileage abt 51k. This car has just been sent to KM for the 50k servicing not long ago.

Can I still claim warranty for the suspension? How about the engine? Will a reset of the ecu work?

PLease advice.

Thanks.

High RPM in the morning cold start is normal.... Cos the choke has been turned on, thus causing that... :) :)

For the rpm to drop to 500-600 after warmup, thats abit on the low side... If the car is still under warranty, go back to KM and tell them about this problem.. :D :D

suspension gone, KM might not give warranty for this as it is a wear & tear item.. :) :)

There's always a better 2molo...........

Mine is 1300rpm every morning cold start....

Went to KM and found out the real problem....
for the loud engine noise and vibration during cold start, it was due to the engine mounting. Got a free replacement as car still under warranty.

For the vibration during idling, after cleaning the valve, it also resolves the problem.

Finally SA recommended to do wheel alignment, and the end result..... much lesser noise from the tyres.

Very happy with the result, even though it took one whole day to fix, but all the problems reported were fixed ......

Have to really thank the SA, did a good job.....
