I went for my 5k servicing and asked the person to use synthetic oil, he say only the 10k servicing then can use synthetic.
The reason he gave is cos still running in,
i thought synthetic better?
any views / feedback on this??
thanks so much!

Full syn offers more protection and can last longer...doesnt degrade even at high temp.
Normally people use semi-syn or even mineral oil for the running in period cos u wont need the oil to last a longer mileage.
After 1k km u change oil, next change is at 5k km...then change again at 10k km. So just use semi-syn good enuff liao. Only at 10k km mark u use fully syn...fully syn can last easily for 10k km for NA cars.

u can use synthetic any time. our modern engines are designed to be able to take any oil(no cooking oil, pls). running in doesn't require mineral or semi-syn oils.blackegg wrote:I went for my 5k servicing and asked the person to use synthetic oil, he say only the 10k servicing then can use synthetic.
