In professional detailing, both 'above' surface defects and 'below' surface defects must be removed in order to acheive a MAXIMUN shine. Below listed are a basic processes;
'Above' surface
- Claying is to remove contaminants that stick into your paint finish.
- Paint Cleaning is for removal of paint oxidation
'Below' Surface
- Polishing is to remove of swirls, scratches, marring, etc
This may help you to understand better --> http://goldclass.com.sg/knowledgecentre.php?opt=5&pg=1
Waxing
After you have jewelled out the car paint finish, you would need something to protect the shine. This is where you need to apply a coat of sealant or wax to lock-in the shine.
Hope this will help.

Perfection doesn't come cheap and it is not an easy task to achieve perfection. Rotary & DA machine coupled with different types of cutting & finishing Pads are required. Different cutting and finshing products are also to be used to combine as a 'Tag Team' with the pads use.
Below is a recent project which is very close to perfection;

No sun shots?
Imo good work doesn't always show from reflection shots.
No offence man.
You should show off your close to perfection in the bright sun, would look awesome i suppose,
Was the car wet sanded? Or it came orange peel free?
Come'on show us some process pics man.
Care to share what was used to jewel the paint?
I am still contemplating what pad to use. LC blue or black.
I have got my polish of choice already.
Cheers

actually u'll need 2 c the car in person n frm a certain angle 2 c any in-perfections on the car itself...even if u look @ the car under the sun...u'll not notice anything n when u park in a shelter w/ a light over the car...u may notice some hairline scratches or dents u didn't notice in the 1st place
Mugen Boi: Paint correction dont remove dents and scratches that have gone through. And the sun is the best light source to spot swirls and holograms.
But so true, viewing the car in person is the best.
Cheers!
