VIBRATION Felt when moving off for my Honda Fit 1.3(A) 2006

As mentioned in my previous post on 11 Nov 09, I've taken my fit to a workshop for a 40k servicing. I've told the mechanic about the problems that I encountered.

1) Vibration felt when moving off.
- He told me that a lot of Fit and Jazz has this problem, most likely it is a flaw in design of the gearbox. His sister who bought a new Jazz has this problem as well but vibration not as serious as mine. Tried using a bottle of conditioner which i bought at a motor shop for $9 but not any better. Can anyone advise me on the solution to this vibration problem??

2) Abrasion sound experienced from the rear left wheel area especially when there's passenger sitting at the rear left seat when going over bumpy road and humps.
- He tried driving my car and told me that it is due to the shock absorber.

Btw, we had a conversation and he commented that my sports rims are a little big and look heavy for my car,thus resulting in poorer fuel efficiency. My car is fitted with 205/45ZA16 tyres. I thought that bigger rims = bigger circumference which will result in more distance covered in a single rotation of the wheel axle.

I noticed that I've used the wrong gearbox oil CVT instead of ATF. How will this affect my car?

Overall, he charged $45 for this servicing which includes a new air filter.
I bought a 4L bottle of engine oil 5W30 at $68 on my own, total cost = $113.
I guess should be reasonable.[/b]

It will hurt the CVT if you use ATF... Can out the oil ASAP...

I thought that bigger rims = bigger circumference which will result in more distance covered in a single rotation of the wheel axle.

Aside weight of your rim, broader tyres give higher rolling resistance to ground. Your right foot plays a impt part to fc too.

--> hi mate. Ur startup clutch in the CVT gearbox is probably on its way out. A fully working CVT box does not have the shudder when the car moves off. Absolutely no vibration. My Jazz (when it was good) doesnt. My civic hybrid doesnt have, even after 100000km. When it becomes very bad, change the startup clutch.

Go to forum.sg-fit-jazz.com. Look for the Advert folder. buddyclub. He has the oil extreme concentrate that helped leviate the CVT shudder issue i had with my 03 Jazz.

I am pleased to say that current CVT boxes are pretty reliable. I have clocked more than 100000 km in my Civic hybrid and the box is still good. I always change my CVTF every 30000 to 40000km. Remember use only CVTF or HMMF for yr transmission oil changes.



16" would affect the fuel consumption. 15" is a good compromise.

The Jazz/Fit "shudder" is a well-known problem with the starter clutch in the CVT. There is a process that Honda have to flush and replace the transmission fluid, which fixes the problem 9 out of 10 times if you catch it early enough. If that fails (usually because it has been left too late), then the starter clutch in the CVT has to be replaced.

As for your wheel and tyre size, that profile should have pretty much the same rolling circumference as your factory wheels and tyres, so you won't be going any further on one wheel rotation at all. My Jazz came from Honda with 205/45/16 tyres, so it can't be too bad! But as garylsc9 mentioned, the weight of the rims and the slightly broader footprint could play a small part in affecting your fuel economy, but probably not anything noticable.

Your car a GD Fit/Jazz or GE Fit or GE Jazz?? Think only GE Jazz can use ATF as it is on normal auto gearbox..
