Post by limhengleong » Sun Sep 06, 2009 11:13 am

I got trouble understanding what's the difference between the parts of suspension leh.. What's coilovers, located in the front or back? What's shock absorbers, located where? What's lowering springs and where is it?

the 2 main kinds of suspension are shock absorber with springs, and coilover unit.

the stock suspension in your car now is a shock absorber with a spring. it's the most common type of suspension system, exists in almost all cars. it's usually not very adjustable, or in most cases, no adjustable at all. some people mix and match springs with shock absorbers, or you can get a shock absorber together with it's matching spring.

coilover unit is actually principally the same thing, but the spring comes together with the shock unit, and it works abit differently. it's built with the main purpose of being highly adjustable for any different stiffness and height settings.

Treat a car like a human. It needs healthy diet, care and grooming, and most importantly, exercise.

if you are not into extreme performance, just get lowering springs will do.. use back the stock shocks... But if want good handling, go for coilovers.. :) :)
