Radiator & Reserve tank Problem
Radiator & Reserve tank Problem
Hi,
i have a radiator problem.
My radiator and radiator is brand new.
How come after the coolant from the radiator move to the reserve tank, the coolant will not go back to the radiator from the reserve tank?
this will cause my radiator coolant to dry up when most of the coolant go into the reserve tank from the radiator. and the reserve tank will overflow
is there problem with the radiator cap? my cap is only 1.1 measurement.
any expert please advise.

i suspect you might need to change the engine head gasket soon.. coolant leaked into the combustion chamber and thus is lost from the radiator directly.. usually you might not notice that your radiator is losing water cos the expansion tank looks ok with sufficient coolant level..
do you find difficulties in starting the engine when it is hot while morning cold start is always ok?

hmm.. both situations to start engine are ok. Except, i can really feel during starting the engine when the weather or engine is hot will be slighty lagging compare to start engine in the first time of the day.EK Type-R wrote:i suspect you might need to change the engine head gasket soon.. coolant leaked into the combustion chamber and thus is lost from the radiator directly.. usually you might not notice that your radiator is losing water cos the expansion tank looks ok with sufficient coolant level..

I know my gasket got leak because when i open the radiator cap, i saw bubbles coming up after i switched on my engine. was like something blowing out from below (which is engine).
haha i changed my engine before last time around 20 months ago, last time also gasket got problem but the radiator was alright. now is gasket also got problem and coolant just won't go back to the radiator from reserve tank.

you might be right about the coolant leaked into the combustion chamber if the gasket got hole.EK Type-R wrote:i suspect you might need to change the engine head gasket soon.. coolant leaked into the combustion chamber and thus is lost from the radiator directly.. usually you might not notice that your radiator is losing water cos the expansion tank looks ok with sufficient coolant level..

but i can't really explain how come my coolant from radiator go to the reserve tank and just don't want to go back to the radiator. so after about 2 trips when i open my reserve tank, it was full and close to overflow. Then i will pour back from the reserve tank to radiator, the level of the coolant in the radiator will turn to be just nice or maybe lesser abit.

Try borrow a radiator cap & use. If u lucky, it could juz be problem with the cap.juxDoIt wrote:you might be right about the coolant leaked into the combustion chamber if the gasket got hole.

If still same situation then almost certain u have a gasket issue. Cooling system lose the pressure to suck back fr the reservoir tank. Need to send for top overhaul, ie. skim head, new gasket, new cam seal. also if head never been touch b4 then may consider change new valve seals, timing belt
Version RR => Recon TypeR
bro.. got bubble means gasket leak? i tot more or less sure have bubble de.. pls share.. am learning..juxDoIt wrote: hmm.. both situations to start engine are ok. might be this hose is missing...this hose is inside the reservior de...is to help to suck back the water when ur engine is cooling down...u got see white smoke?gungho wrote:the rubber hose attached to the reservior tank cap is missingjuxDoIt wrote:Hi,
