Ah.... Thanks for your input, i suppose that you are driving a CP2 right now?So there is a difference in 'D' and 'S'... Is it the case that the transmission will simply refuse to kick down to a lower gear for better acceleration if you floor the accelerator in 'D'? It certainly feels that way to me.

Will driving in 'S' still allow the transmission to shift up and down like normal? Similiar to 'D' drive pattern except better response and acceleration? Or will the transmission hang on to the same gear no matter the throttle input or rpm (tiptronic style?)

I just anticipate that i will never ever use the paddle shift... I just need a step and go car...

thanks!
stingray751 wrote: Two option you could do as I've learn from driving the CP2.
1) Drive with "D" and use paddle shift as you've mentioned which I've been doing.
2) Drive at "S" without touching paddle shift, once you've in "S" and touch your paddle shift you'll have to go back into "D" and back to "S" again. But be prepare that this option will be heavy on the FC.

Ya, at camry club also got Bro book CP1 (just upgrade from Altis), but he still come and join us.

Those Thai club, they do activities together such like Football, Badminton, Tennis....etc.

Coz they do own different brand of cars at the same time.

Like this guy, he love both Camry & Accord, so he just buy both of them   (Super Rich)

I've been driving the CP1 for about 1 week now, and the engine is starting to 'break-in' rather nicely. I have no regrets about the CP1, the smoothness in the ride, and the nice low torque that it possesses during acceleration. :D

I've been driving the CP2 for 6 months now.
Ya, if you shift to "S" and didn't touch the paddle shift it will drive like ordinary "D" mode except the response is better. The gear shift is longer at higher rpm.
As for the kick down at "D", i normally don't do that as we have the paddle shift, the response to kick down is too slow and it takes just as much petrol just to do that. I'll just shift either 1 or 2 step down to accelerate if need to.

I've driven on the NSHW and clocked 190kmh, not to bad. i try more next time

JTIS wrote:I am glad that i am not the only one feeling this way. I have also test-driven the CP1 during my 1st test drive. Very nice drive, I like it, very similar to the CM5 in terms of pick-up and handling. But, no offense to the current CP1 owners, but i feel that the SOHC R20 engine is not quite as refined as the K24 when you are accelerating hard, quite coarse sounding at high revs. The CP2 K24 is a little more refined than the CM5, but pity about the blunted acceleration. :(
The CM5 is a totally different ride - has enough power on tap when you need it (although I've hardly needed the extra oomph).

JTIS wrote:Despite what other may think about its looks, i really like the CM5 for being a real workhorse and its punchy acceleration(though i hate the rattling windows). It has served faithfully up multiple trips to Malaysia, requiring nothing but regular servicing. Hence, the CP2 is a natural progression in my mind.
The rattling windows, rattling A-bar etc - they were sometimes quite annoying especially when ferrying passengers around - passengers who asked "How come Accord got rattle one har?" I too thought the CP2 would be a natural progression until the $7000 difference in price. Bear in mind that when many of us bought the CM5, the CM4 was still unavailable until 2 years later. So now with the uncertain economical future etc, we decided on the CP1.

I've also been monitoring my fuel consumption after one week (in comparison to the CM5) - one full tank could last us a week (CM5) while the same period for the CP1 only used 1/3 (I still have more than half a tank). But then again, the CP1 is 70l while the CM5 was 65l (for a full tank).
JTIS wrote:With the disappointment with the CP2 fresh in my mind, i went over to Nissan and test drove the Teana 2.5V6. My god, the smoothness and the power of the V6 blew me away, the 4 cylinder Hondas simply can't compared with the V6 engine smoothness. But, the drive is mindnumbingly boring, i still like the CM5 best.
For us, once a Honda, always a Honda

Just a thought - should we also state CP1 or CP2, and body colour?

eg NAME - CPx / White

Thanks all, for the responses. I will go for my 3rd test drive this weekend, to see if the CP2 is any good in 'S' mode instead of 'D' mode.

A little surprised to hear that the CP1 is so economical, the CM5 was doing about 8 to 8.5km/l for me consistently. If that was the case for Robert previously as well, even taking into account the running in period driving pattern, the CP1 could conceivably be doing 11 to 12km/l. :P Invaluable indeed during times of high petrol prices...
