FD2R ECU recall - 8th Feb 2008

Post by silvermail » Sat Feb 09, 2008 1:20 am

Just got news of this - http://www.honda.co.jp/recall/campaign/ ... typeR.html
Engine control computer-controlled air-fuel ratio correction program is inappropriate for a certain deceleration engine revolutions (2100) following declutch state, or idling rotational instability, it might stop engine. The engine can restart.
Need to re-flash the ECU to solve the problem. The following VINs are affected:

FD2-1200011~FD2-1203565 (20th March 2007 - 19th Sep 2007)
FD2-1400003~FD2-1402320 (13th Sep 2007 - 28th Dec 2007)

Maybe need to heel-toe and keep RPM above 2100 RPM to stop the stalling. *Just joking*

Not a good way to start the year of the rat!

Now this will be an acid test for all the PIs.

These are the chassis number which is commonly known as VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in the car industry.

well my vin falls in that range -- hasn't happened to me yet -- but what can we (those whose no. fall in that range) do? what do I need to tell the PI (and what can the PI possibly do?)

Looking at the range and manufacturing dates, I believe almost everyone is affected.

It would be interesting to know if anyone has experienced the symptoms described themself.

ctr-sg forum got one bro got his car stall for no apparent reason (now we know....)
Come to think about it...wat can PIs do?? They dun have the equipment to help u, the best is they can offer to send your ECU back to Japan for reflash...even dat will u do it??? Downtime could be many weeks. Even u willing, Honda japan may not do it cos u use the car outside Japan w/o their blessing :(
If it is a safety issue, the best can hope for is we owners group together and mayb, LTA, KM, Honda Japan or Malaysia can work out something n organise for us to have our cars reflash at Kah or nearest Honda Malaysia workshop (?)
