hi, im looking to get a hch and got some questions.
1. when cruising at constant high speed, the engine and motor powers the car. if we were to cruise long enough, batt will run flat cos there is no stopping or braking? if that happens, can the 1.3l engine power the 1.2ton car and have enough power to overtake? will the fc drop drastically if 1.3l is pushing the car so on long highway, we lose fc?
2. same question if we climb long slopes. read in this forum of someone going up cameron highlands and left with 1.3l engine moving the car up the hill. is this a verified experience? how does the 1.3l feel then? can make it or not?
3. anyone here travels along sle-cte route in the mornings? what fc u get? cos thats wat my route is and is a mix of cruise (sle) and jam (cte).

hi. i wld use my driving experience to KL as a reference. I travel at constant 100 to 110 kph. I dont have to throttle all the time. there are parts of the road where u can coast, especially if it is a downhill kind of slope. make use of the slope, throttle off. when u do tat, the engine wld shut off the valves (no fuel consumed) and the regen energy wld go back to the battery.
Unless u are racing to catch with a WRX or Type R, it is most likely u wld have a chance to charge the battery whilst u are travelling. Best of all, if u top up at 2nd link, it is most likely that u can arrive at KL with half a tank of fuel to spare.

well, it wld feel sluggish, compared to when u have EV assist. Hpwever, u are still going to make it up there. Drop S if u have to.
3. anyone here travels along sle-cte route in the mornings? what fc u get? cos thats wat my route is and is a mix of cruise (sle) and jam (cte).
hmm... i dare say about 17k/l. On good days, u can look forward to 19plus k/l. verified results. check out with the people at www.civicfd-sg.com.
BTW, u shld realise that this is a 1.3litre car. An interesting one, becoz with assist, it doesnt feel too different from a 1.8 or 2.0 litre. This is due to the torquey electric motor.
perhaps i can share my reasons for getting the vehicle.
1) it has interior specs close to a Si car. side airbags and some other small stuff.
2) 1.3liter. save road tax;
3) same stunning Civic look as the rest of the product line;
4) very comfortable interior;
5) fuel economy;
6) relatively comfortable ride quality;
7) Honda!
Hope this helps.

To answer your questions,
1. When you are cruising, the car should not be using the battery power at all; ie. Assist should be zero. Therefore, the battery level should not run low at all. If you need to overtake, just switch to S and the car will allow you to rev for overtaking.
2. I had recently drove all the way up to Genting and did not encounter any problem. Main thing to remember is to use S to drive up and try to switch off your aircon. Actually its quite fun to drive in S mode. It was in this Genting trip that I tried driving in S mode.
3. I don't use the SLE/CTE route, so no comments on the FC. But my daily route is via AYE from Delta to Clementi Ave6 and back from Jurong Town Hall to Delta. Also, I travel along Bukit Timah and Upper Bukit Timah stretch. So far my FC is around 17-18 km/l.
Hope this helps you in deciding whether to get the HCH2.
it all boils down to how much they can make from the car.arowana1 wrote:thanks pottybear and linuz for the clarification.
im pretty set on hch but got put off by the se at ubi yesterday. so today went to leng kee and met a nicer se.
however, still no freebies or whatever. is this the norm for kah motor se not to throw anything in?
U can try this fella, Albert, 96649664. See if he can bring a smile on yr face.
Am also thinking of changing my Mazda2 to a HCH. But I would like to ask some questions.
1. How is the servicing like? As in the same as normal cars? Price of each servicing?
2. Has anyone touched the engine to do any mods like those in the U.S?
3. How much down payment is need to book the car?
4. Is the FC constant or it still boils down to jams and traffic lights?
5. Any faults that you guys face? Good and bad points.
6. How much spent each month on petrol? My mazda drinking a total of $400 a month.

1. You can see the price according to Kah Motors here: http://www.honda.com.sg/prevent.htm
2. Don't think so. Are there any mods for HCH's engine in the US?
3. Same amount at any other cars.
4. Is generally better than normal cars and of course still subject to many factors; how you drive, road conditions, etc.
5. Yet to receive my car. Check out http://www.civicfd-sg.com/
6. Depends on how much you drive also mah. I hear that Mazda cars are usually more 'thirsty'. HCH generally can achieve around 16-20km/l
