Rear Wing/Spoiler + Front Lip

Post by nAEs » Tue Sep 10, 2013 10:12 pm

Hello fellow S2000 owners. I have just joined the S2000 family recently. I am actually looking to spruce up my S2000 a little by adding a rear wing/spoiler and perhaps a front lip. Any kind souls able to point me to the correct direction on where I can get these?

I believed it will be difficult to find it readily available in the local market as the S2000 is already an old and discontinued model. I saw something that I fancy on ebay/amazon and some online merchant but I am hesitant as I have never bought motor parts online before. Most do not ship to Singapore as well.

I am trying my luck here and hopefully someone will be able to share his/her experience with me. Thanks.

Front Lip I feel nothing beats the outright type S lip. It mounts on to the front stock s2k bumper easily. That's if you didn't buy a Type S in the first place. I felt the car had a front lift feeling much like Porsches at about 150kmh and up. Adding the front lip made a huge difference. That lip can only be bought overseas now. Its not cheap but there are replica ones available and they serve the same purpose. Do take note the Type S front lip is wind tunnel proven.

If you want to go away from OEM unfortunately there are not many other options. The OEM lip, amuse, apr etc I am not sure, but don't think they make any aero difference either then adding some cosmetic enhancement. If you want some real aero work you need to be changing the whole bumper.

Rear wing the Type S again is wind tunnel proven. That aside you either have the choice of a Js Racing, Ings etc etc. Of which many of them are made by Voltex anyway so just buy Voltex. These are mostly GT Wings and depending on how garang your car to look and downforce you want. You can adjust the height of the wing and the angle of the wing itself. This have proven to be one of my favourite mods so far. With a good lip up front, and a GT wing at the back. Doing 200kmh is no problem. Car feels and handles comfortable enough for my liking. Many of us have such a wing and will give you the same feedback.

To buy these parts, you can look for evasive.com, gotuning. Or if you prefer someone local to help you. You can pm me and I can give you a number. Do join us for a meetup soon and we can tell you more. Most of us are not online here. See you soon and welcome to the S2K family. :)

Thank you for the welcome and also your advice on the benefits of having a proper front lip and rear wing. Evasive was one of the online merchant that I emailed to for one of the rear wing that they carry but they did not respond. So I presume they are not too interested in doing the deal. I will see what I can find elsewhere. I'm not in a hurry though.

It will be good to meet up with fellow S2000 owners. If there is 1, I do not mind popping in and perhaps learn a bit more on the characteristics of the car.

The S2000 that I bought is a AP2 but not a Type S.

Lip and Rear Wing

Post by hondatyper » Fri Sep 20, 2013 10:20 am

Hi,

I seconded MSC's recommendation. I have switched from AP2S to AP1 (which doesn't have any lip and wing) and despite installing coilovers, I felt the same thing.

I am also looking around for the same items and have checked the brand new prices of these parts. Also found some reproductions of the wing by Seibon in CF which seemed to be of better value. Haven't seen any CF versions of the S front lip though.

Maybe we can do a group source if we can get enough quantities. Evasive's Seibon Type S spoiler as follows:

Ian,

I have seen 2 people on the Seibon CF Type S wing. They are well made. They should cost you less then 1K with shipping included.

Anything more then that I just go buy a Voltex GT wing and be happy as a bird.

Nope have not seen a Type S lip in CF as well but the original ones work just fine. They are not easy to find thou. Try S2Ki, there are some original ones and some replica ones there.

Thanks for sharing! Agreed. Tried looking at S2ki when I was in US, but no one was selling back then. Hopefully someone will soon

Hi Ian,

We have probably googled and came up with the same thing. I almost ordered a replica Type S front lip from an online merchant in S2Ki. Was quoted USD500 (shipping cost included).

I'm putting the front lip/rear wing plan on hold for the moment though (until I return from a holiday). There are just so many things that I wish to do so I can stamp my identity on the car that I have just gotten. I guess I should not let the excitement rush to my head. I should learn and get to know the car better first...

Since these are OEM parts, have you tried asking Thian Seng for the Type S lip and spoiler?

Note, however, in order to support the spoiler, that the Type S trunk comes with some reinforcements compared to non-Type S ones: http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/832306- ... forcement/

Nephilim, thanks for the link. If we are buying the Seibon, it probably wont come with these reinforcements. Have asked Thian Seng before, both add up to be in excess of $1.5k

I fully support MSC's recommendation. I made the switch from AP2S to AP1, even with coilovers, but still experienced similar issues. I've been researching replacement parts and noticed Seibon's carbon fiber wing reproductions, offering better value. While I haven't come across CF versions of the S front lip, a group source could be a smart idea to explore, especially with Evasive's Seibon Type S spoiler in the mix. free fire name
